STEAMing Ahead: Women Igniting Innovation

Principal's Report

As we reach the end of Term Two, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of all students this semester. It has been encouraging to witness their focused approach and determination. The semester has been filled with learning, exploration, and much resilience. I am incredibly proud of our college community and encourage all students to use their experiences this semester and feedback in the end-of-semester reports as an opportunity for growth, celebration and self-reflection.

STEAM this semester!

We are exceptionally proud of the strength and uniqueness of our college community, including the way in which we promote inclusivity and embrace the diversity of our students.  In an all-girl environment, we strive to foster an inclusive culture where every individual feels valued, respected and empowered to be their authentic selves.  Research has shown that girls in a single-sex learning environment are more likely to pursue advanced science and math studies, participate actively in class and express greater confidence in their abilities. By challenging gender-related stereotypes and fostering a culture of encouragement and collaboration, we empower our students to explore their passions without limitations. This is especially true with our dedication and commitment to the exploration of our STEAM clubs this semester. Led inspirationally by our STEAM leader; Wendy Keen, our students this semester have had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and creativity in a real-world context through robotics and coding workshops and engineering challenges. These platforms provided opportunities to explore interests, enhance skills and collaborate with like-minded peers. Our students were mentored by accomplished women from STEAM fields, sharing their experiences and insights with our students. These interactions allow our young people to see successful female models in STEAM careers, inspiring them to pursue their passions with confidence.

General Achievement Test (GAT) and Year 10 & 11 Exams

Congratulations to all students who completed the GAT, Year 11 exams and Year 10 exams over the few weeks. Completing the GAT and our college-based mid-year exams is a testament to the hard work and commitment to their studies. We would also like to acknowledge our exceptional staff team who have played a vital role in guiding and supporting our students throughout their exam preparations. Their tireless efforts in providing valuable knowledge, mentorship, and guidance have undoubtedly contributed to our student’s success. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and passionate group of educators who go above and beyond to ensure our students' growth and success.

End of Semester Reports

End-of-semester reports will be released at the end of this week and we encourage parents and carers to take the time to review your child’s report with them. Please take the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, and growth and acknowledge their work habits and dispositions. Take advantage of the opportunity to engage in open and supportive conversations about their learning goals, progress and any challenges that they may have faced. It is important to remember that the end-of-semester reports are a snapshot of each student’s journey. We know that education and learning is a continuous process, and these reports provide valuable feedback for ongoing growth and development. We encourage you to view them as a starting point for ongoing dialogue and to build upon the strength of our home-school partnership.

As we enter a well-deserved break, I encourage everyone to take the time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the accomplishments of the term. Celebrate your successes, appreciate the lessons learned from challenges faced, and return in Term 3 with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the next phases of the academic year.
