Breakfast & Lunch Food Hampers
The Breakfast Club at Glen Eira College can provide food hampers known as "school holiday packs" which contain enough breakfast food, snacks and lunches for two weeks. These can be picked up from the school. Please contact the school on 9571 7838 to let us know you would like a hamper to be put aside for you to collect.
Bullying Prevention Policy
Glen Eira College is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment where bullying will not be tolerated.
Bullying is not tolerated at our school.
Please see the link to view our Bullying Prevention Policy.
We ensure bullying behaviour is identified and addressed with appropriate and proportionate consequences. All bullying complaints will be taken seriously and responded to sensitively.
Please discuss the policy with you child - we want to ensure all students are aware of the process for reporting unwanted behaviuors as below.
Students who may be experiencing bullying behaviour, or students who have witnessed bullying behaviour, are encouraged to report their concerns to college staff or another trusted adult as soon as possible.
Our ability to effectively reduce and eliminate bullying behaviour is greatly affected by students and/or parents and carers reporting concerning behaviour as soon as possible, so that the responses implemented by Glen Eira College are timely and appropriate in the circumstances.
We encourage students to speak to a teacher, YLC, the Student Wellbeing Leader or school nurse. However, students are welcome to discuss their concerns with any trusted member of staff including teachers, wellbeing staff, school social worker etc.
Parents or carers who develop concerns that their child is involved in, or has witnessed bullying behaviour at Glen Eira College should contact the Student Wellbeing Leader, by phone on 95717838 or by email direct to glen.eira.co@education.voc.gov.au).
Capital Works
This week the VSBA (Victorian schools Building Authority) will be conducting interviews to select the architects for the capital works project. School Council President, Stephen Loyer, and myself are on the interview panel.
The next steps from here are:
- A review of our masterplan will be completed to ensure it reflects the works now achievable through the additional funding – updates will be made as required.
- The project will then undergo a detailed planning and tender stage so that an appropriate builder is appointed.
- Designs for the building will then be released to our school community, followed by construction work beginning – anticipated for mid-year 2024, with a revised forecast completion date of term 4 2025.
College Council have been briefed by the VSBA about this exciting project. A planning team will be established that will include a school council representative. Staff will have significant input into the design of the learning spaces and students will also have an opportunity to have their voice heard.
I will continue to update you as we reach each project milestone.
