Learning and Teaching

Congratulations to all our children for the hard work you have put in across this term to prepare for the Expo. The students designed and created many amazing games and insects to share with each other and their families. We hope that you enjoy seeing them at our Learning Expo.

Throughout the term, the children at Corpus Christi showed that can be:

  • Adaptable
  • Independent
  • Clear communicators
  • Flexible
  • Helpful to their classmates
  • Persistent

NAIDOC WEEK

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday 2nd July to Sunday 9th July), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

The 2023 National NAIDOC Week theme is For Our Elders.

One easy way to discuss and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures is to read picture books and other stories together. Some suggestions are:

My Country by Ezekiel Kwaymullina and Sally Morgan

Ernie Dances to the Didgeridoo by Alison Lester

Welcome to Country: A Traditional Aboriginal Ceremony Book by Joy Murphy Wandin

The Lost Girl by Ambelin Kwaymullina and Illustrated by Leanne Tobin

Fair Skin, Black Fella by Renee Fogorty

Sorry Day by Coral Vass and Illustrated by Dub Leffler

Most of these stories and others are available on Story Box Library so use our school login to access them.
