TERM 2 SPORT

Term 2 Wrap

What a very busy term 2 with multiple sporting events. We are surrounded by incredible sporting talent in our local community. Petar S, Charli M, Sophie A & Audrey P all reaching NSWPSSA levels this term. Our students have achieved these levels across tennis, hockey, football, cross country and touch football. The sporting pathways will continue for Sophie A, Charli M and Audrey into Term 3 as they approach more NSWPSSA and/or School Sport Australia Championships in their retrospective sports. We cannot wait to hear their achievements.

Many of our students attended the Conference 3 Cross Country Championships and furthermore the MacKillop Selections Cross Country Trial. This is a large event hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools with the latest sport technology assisting in its huge success.

Our infants had the opportunity to display their talents and enthusiasm at our St Patrick’s Games as the rest of the students enjoyed the 2-6 Annual Athletics Carnival. This was a great community event that showcased what students have been learning about during their Physical Education Lessons.

Year 6 have enjoyed Interschool Football sessions with the added bonus of having both our level 1 boys and girls reaching the semi-final day. Stage 3 also participated in the AFL Paul Kelly Cup where many students were exposed to AFL for the first time.

Year 4 wrapped up the term with the Football (soccer) Gala Day at Kareela Sporting Fields. This was a fun day where students were exposed to the sport in a fun and social atmosphere.

On the same day we also had Matthew N attend the Unified All Abilities Gala Day hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools. This inclusive day gives students the opportunity to share the empowerment that comes with engaging in sport. Matthew participated in AFL and Football (soccer), competed against other students in games and most importantly met new people while developing friendships along the way. Matthew was able to learn and witness first hand some adaptive equipment shared by passionate, specialised coaches and athletes.

Representative Jerseys

With the introduction of interschool sport this year we have participated in more opportunities than previous years. Therefore could we kindly ask all students who have any style/design of the schools representative jersey or singlet at home to return them to the school office at your earliest convenience. We will require them for Level 1 year 5 oz-tag interschool sport and Conference 3 Athletics. I appreciate your cooperation with this until we source extra jerseys moving forward.

For students who qualified from our School Athletic Carnival, please return the hard copy note to compete at the Conference 3 Athletics Trial at Barden Ridge Athletics Track. The event your child was entered for was written on the front page of the note. Please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au if you are unsure what events your child has been entered to. If you have already sent an email with this question, I will be in touch before the end of term. The Conference 3 Athletic Trial will be held on Wednesday August 9th at Barden Ridge Athletic Track.
