We had three students compete in the Polding Cross Country Trials on Tuesday in Eastern Creek, Sydney. A massive congratulations to Isabel O’Connell who placed 6th, securing her position in the Polding side to compete in the State Cross Country Championships. Well done Isabel, a real superstar!
Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports Council have made the difficult decision to postpone Gala Day due to the extreme weather conditions around the Diocese and field closures in Inverell.
The new date for Gala Day will be Friday 3rd September, 2021.
This does mean that we forfeit the opportunity to provide the pathway for the winning school based League team, but unfortunately with school athletics carnivals booked in, it is impossible to secure a date prior to the Independent and Catholic Schools Rugby League Knockout. I know this will be a disappointment to some schools but we honestly tried our best to find a date.
All information should stay the same for September, however I will send out updated information closer to the date.
Thank you for your understanding.
Calling all family and friends, we are asking you to collect any bread bags and any bread ties to bring to school for the Wonder White competition. As a school community we are hoping to collect 10 kilograms of the recyclable products which we will, in return, receive sporting equipment and go in the running for school playground equipment. There will be a collection site at each campus. Our school's Mini Vinnies group will be helping Mrs Clarke and Mrs Gippel lead this initiative.
From the expressions of interest, St Edward’s is entering 3 x Netball teams and an Under 10’s Football (soccer) side. Unfortunately we did not have enough students interested in making complete sides for the Under 10’s or Opens Rugby League sides.
IMPORTANT: If you returned an expression of interest note your child has been placed in a team with the number of students for this team meeting nomination requirements. If you withdraw your child the team may not be able to go ahead. Please be mindful of this as the nominations have already been placed and the school has been invoiced for these teams.
The festival will be held in Tamworth and our teams will compete against teams as far north as the Sunshine Coast and South to the ACT. The NPG values sportsmanship and inclusivity being the focus of the weekend. The Macquarie Bank Spirit of the Games Award will be presented to a team who best represents this attitude within each of the sports. Teams are representing St Edward’s and should demonstrate our wonderful sportsmanship and catholic values.
