Grade 1

Wow! We were so impressed by the Grade 1 children during Remote Learning. They kept up with their app programs, completed Seesaw tasks, came on time to Webex meetings and learned to complete assessments from home. Please see the students fantastic writing about the Lorax below. Students showed their understanding of the Lorax character and what they know about being sustainable.

Grade 2

We are so proud of the way our Grade 2 students transitioned to Remote Learning. They were exceptional at navigating the different programs and trying their best whilst at home. On Friday, we spent time reconnecting with our peers and teachers. There was joy in returning onsite and these smiles say it all!

Grade 3/4

The Grade 3s and 4s have been working hard during Remote Learning! They have been passionately reading to reach their reading volume target and celebrating their achievements. They have been having a lot of fun with their peers during their morning WebEx check-ins.

During Literacy sessions, Grade 3 and 4 students have been reading The Lorax where they discussed themes of sustainability, and linked it to their Inquiry topic about caring for the planet and protecting endangered animals. They even got to draw their very own Lorax!

They have also been learning about rhyme and poetry. They learned to write a Haiku. They learned about how onomatopoeia words can add meaning and effect to poems.

Grade 5 and 6

Grade 5 and 6 have tried to make the most out of this time by having fun alongside making academic progress. The students have carried out Maths Assessments this week. We were very proud to see the results. Here are just two examples of our whole-class achievements:

  • Grade 5: 95% of kids could recognise and order numbers to hundreds of thousands
  • Grade 6: 95% of kids could compare fractions with related denominators and place them on a number line

Presenters in the making...

Grade 6 students have been hosting their morning Webex calls. They must have been doing something right, as 100% of students have attended Remote Learning all week! Many students chose to make a Kahoot, which is an online quiz tool.  We are not too sure about their Kahoot questioning skills yet, though...

We are so happy to be back on site and able to see the children's smiling faces in the classroom. Thank you so much to all of our Grade 5 and 6 families for your ongoing support.  We are so lucky to have you!
