PERFORMING ARTS

Welcome back to term 4! It is so lovely that we are starting to have students returning to school and are enjoying the sounds that Performing Arts brings.

GIGS ON THE GREEN

Gigs on the Green returned with the Year 12s coming back into the school space. Congratulations to Arianne Lindsay for her outstanding performance on Friday 8 October. It was great that we could have live music again within the school.

Congratulations to the Year 12 bands from Music performance who performed at Gigs on the Green on Wednesday 13 October. It was terrific to hear you play through the program that you are performing for your exam on Thursday morning. Great work to Kaarle Tuomi, Nikola Tomic, Tristan Fuhrer and Meirav Berger.

MONOLOGUE PERFORMANCES

Congratulations also to all the Theatre Studies students who presented their monologue exam performances on Monday and Tuesday nights this week. It was wonderful to see the hard work that you have been putting into creating the performances. We wish you well next Monday.

ONLINE LEARNING

It has been an incredible few months online in the Performing Arts space. Many students have taken the time to hone their compositional skills with writing and performing interesting pieces in class. The Year 8 song writing project has been highly entertaining and we look forward to celebrating the “simply the best” winners once we are all back at school!

FAMILY MUSIC FESTIVAL

We have also loved bringing you the Family Music Festival - which will continue to the end of next week.

A huge thank you to all those students (current and past), staff, parents and friends who took part in this. The joy that you had in your performances was obvious through the camera! You will be able to continue to view this festival for a while yet.

STAFFING CHANGES

Instrumental music has had a small change in staffing with the change over to term 4. Ms Su Rogerson will be taking leave from the beginning of term 4 to pursue an exciting new opportunity working with Lion Brewery. We welcome past student Mr Gabi Basman to our team for the first six weeks of the term to help cover the clarinet and saxophone students.

SURVEY DUE FRIDAY 15 OCTOBER

Over the last week Mr West sent out a survey to all students about their Instrumental lesson plans for 2022. This survey needs to be completed by Friday 15 October to assist us with our planning.

PERFORMANCE EXAMINATIONS

Over the next month all the Performing Arts students will be undertaking their end of year performance examinations. Solo Music students began their examinations last weekend and will continue each weekend until the end of October. The Group Music students have their performance exam this Thursday, and the Theatre Studies students have their performance exams next Monday (18 October). All of these students have been coming into the school since the last two weeks of term 3 to work on developing their performances and their technique for performing in front of an audience. They have all worked incredibly hard and we wish all of these students the greatest success and remind them to leave their best in the performance space!
