ACTIVE IN LOCKDOWN

During the latest lockdown the PE Department has been busy creating activities and opportunities to keep the school community active and healthy. Being physically active is great for both our physical and mental health.

This year we decided to go ‘live’ with our challenges! We started our campaign with the Move McKinnon Challenge where students were competing to gain points for their year levels by participating in a live workout before school with Mr Hudd and completing different physical challenges every day. This was a closely fought challenge with Year 7s coming in 1st place with 960 points.

Congratulations also to Benny Baldwin, Lilly Baldwin, Brit Apps, Chloe Apps, Sooyeon Ji, Jooyeon Ji, Harley Karro, Gisele Hennequin, Hannah Foran, Rosie O'Brien, Leila Brough, Stephan Mitzeliotis, Yuna Lin who are all receiving canteen vouchers for excellent participation.

During week 1 of term 4 we should have been celebrating all things Health and PE at school. Since we were remote learning, we decided to shake things up and run live workouts in all of Year 7-9 PE lessons, and provide daily workouts and dance sessions on the compass newsfeed. The feedback from the live sessions was amazing, so we will continue with these sessions for the remainder of remote learning. It is nice to see families joining in with our quest to keep the community active by participating in these activities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PE Department for all of their support and work that went above and beyond to make all these challenges and activities happen.

Stay active everyone and stay safe!
