Finding Marjorie Ahern

Our First Female Dux.  Our honour board records only the name of Frederick Wiltshire as Dux for 1926.  Sir Frederick Wiltshire went on to carve out an empire as a stainless steel manufacturer and key member of many Government Boards. The diligent work of former Principal Gary Israel, school archivist, has found that Marjorie Ahern was announced as the first female Dux at the 1926 annual awards night and that she received a prize in this regard. Her name will be added to the honour board in this year's scheduled update. In the image taken at the school in 1926-7, Fred Wiltshire is in the tree and Marj Ahern on the far right.
