Level 1

Level 1 has been fortunate to have experienced a couple of excellent incursions in the last fortnight. In the Craftpower workshop, we made wooden cars using hammers, nails, various pieces of wood, hot glue and wheels. In STEM we have been learning about forces, and we discussed push and pull forces, and used our cars to demonstrate these.

In Reading, we have continued looking at word blends, and beginning, middle and end in texts. We have also been making connections between narrative themes and our own lives. In Writing, we have been practising writing procedural texts. Thanks to the Craftpower incursion, we were able to write instructions for making a wooden car!

In Maths, we have been learning about money, recognising the different coins, and how to write the amounts. We even ‘visited’ a cafe and added up how much our orders would cost.

We enjoyed our Cybersafety incursion with Trent and Jaz. We learnt some ways to ensure we are safe online, and to STOP ([go] silent), (tell an adult), ([get] out), (play something else) if anything doesn’t feel right. We also learnt how to create a strong and long password. – Ms Moran, Ms Bellis and Ms Anderson did well in the ‘remember the password’ game!

We also did a lot of Essential Assessment testing over the past fortnight, and Level 1 were such troopers completing this – well done Level 1, you are amazing!

We are looking forward to seeing our families at the Rangeview Open Night this Wednesday.
