NAPLAN Results

This week we received our NAPLAN results from the tests that students in Grades 3 and 5 completed back in May. Overall we were pleased with the results the students at Delacombe achieved, as despite the interruptions to our learning programs and on and off remote learning over the past 18 months, our students have maintained the results we were seeing in 2019 in most areas.

We did see a slight drop in our Writing data in both Grades 3 and 5, which is disappointing as we had been achieving higher than state benchmarks. However we believe that this may be a result of the impact the disrupted school year has had, because our Writing Model is very scaffolded and we don’t get to provide the meaningful face to face feedback as quickly remotely, as we would on site.

The teachers have briefly looked at the NAPLAN data and we will be digging deeper into unpacking this data further in the coming weeks, to identify trends, to inform our future planning and to monitor student progress in all subject areas from Grade 3-Grade 5. Students’ individual results pages have been mailed home to families, so you should be receiving these in the coming days.

Overall we are so proud of the effort and hard work our students put in to completing this National assessment and we look forward to using the data to assist us in setting some school goals for the future.
