Term 3
The term is in full swing and remote learning continues to be a thing! A huge shout out to all of our parents, grandparents, older brothers and sisters who all help to make this remote learning tick along. A shout out to our teachers and education support who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make this all happen. Thank you to everyone.
We would also like to take a moment to welcome new families to our school. It has been a bumpy start to your journey with us, but we hope you are settling well. So, welcome...
Ruben (5/6B), Jude (5/6CN), Henry (4L), Siena (3R), Oscar (2MT) and Ella (Foundation S).
Foundation Sharing
Foundation students have grown fond of learning about sharing in mathematics. Students have been putting their cooking skills and their sharing of lollies to the test. As they deepen their understanding of sharing equally, the students have been looking at problems, asking ‘What happens when I share equally between 2 people… 4 people… 8 people?’
It has been very exciting to see all the wonderful and creative ways the students have shared their toys, food, even spoons. Fingers crossed these delicious dishes made in lockdown will be shared equally with their teachers!
Challenge for 4HS
At a webex meeting this week Grade 4HS had to balance a book on their head, place a piece of paper ontop and then draw a picture of a cat! Try it, it is harder than you think.
Wednesday Was Science Day!
National Science Week ran from 14th August to the 22nd August, 2021. The topic was Food: Different by Design. It was wonderful to see so many students take part in Science Experiments involving yeast, cabbage, Skittles, milk, food dye and racing liquids experiments. Thank you to the students and staff for being so well prepared and ready to join in the experiments. Many thanks to the parents and guardians who purchased items from the shops. It was very much appreciated.
Grade 2 Writing
The students in 2MT have been reading nonfiction texts about animals in Sunshine Online. One activity that they have been enjoying after reading their texts is to draw the animals by carefully following the directions of an artist on YouTube from Kids Art Hub. They then label their drawings and write a fact from the text that they read. Well done Grade 2, check out these geckos and writing:
Book Week is coming
Just as we sweep Science Week out of the door, in comes Book Week. Get ready for a series of book week activities including: story time at 2:00pm on Monday - Thursday; Guess which teacher is hiding behind a book, can you guess from the clues? We are also asking you to come to our assembly on Friday dressed up as your favourite book character. We can't wait to join the fun.
Mullumites Playgroup
Were you aware that when our school is operating 'normally' we have a Playgroup that meets onsite each Wednesday morning. Due to the extended lockdown period Nicole has been running playgroup online. Check out all of the pre-school activities after searching Facebook for Mullumites Playgroup.
Parent and Guardian Opinion Survey
Over 70 families received an invitation to participate in a survey about your experiences as a family at Mullum Primary School. This coming Monday 23 August is the last day for submitting your surveys. Your thoughts and opinions are valued and do help to build and strengthen our community.
ICAS Assessments
The online ICAS assessments booked for August and September have been postponed. Those families in Grade 3-6 who had booked their children in to these assessments should have received an email from me over the last week indicating this. We hope to run these when we are back onsite.
