From the Head of Middle School

Curtain AHEAD

Last Friday, right before the boarders long weekend, we held a 'Future Pathways' information session for Year Nine families. We had 45 parents attend in person with six more watching the live stream. The session gave parents more information about the changing landscape of education in Years Ten to Twelve and beyond. During the day Year Nine students had been working with a school partner, Curtin AHEAD, to look at their learning styles and interest, which lead them towards potential future jobs. Three students spoke to the audience about where the online program had taken them, to acting, cinematography and teaching. Lauren from Curtin AHEAD also discussed the Great Southern Universities Centre that any university and TAFE students can access as well as the student accommodation that is available in Albany. The main part of the afternoon saw our Deputy Principal, Mrs Emma Franklin, go through the Year Eleven and Twelve options that are available to students. This showed all the intricacies and various combinations that GSG students can study after Year Ten. There are many exciting options which are individually designed around each student’s learning and interests. The video of the event can be found here for parents who may want to review the session. Thank you to all the parents who attended and we will look to build on this event in future years.
