Week 9 Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last Friday, Father Greg and Father Linh celebrated a short online liturgy for the St Fidelis students and families. We are fortunate that our parish priests are able and willing to connect with our families and offer us spiritual support during  this time. I personally want to thank them for their flexibility and joining us with prayer on our Facebook Live.

RECONCILIATION - Parent /Child Workshop

Thank you to all the Year 3 parents and children who attended last Thursday night’s reconciliation parent / child workshop via zoom. It was great to see all the families engaging with Michelle Linossiuer (our presenter) as she further explained and explored the Sacrament of Reconciliation with us all. I reiterate that we are endeavouring to continue as many of our programs as possible as we navigate this online world.

The Sacraments of Confirmation, First Eucharist and Reconciliation will all be rescheduled as soon as we are able to do so.

As announced last week, the lockdown and subsequent home learning context will continue until the end of term.  This is yet another undertaking that will require us to work together in ensuring the children are heard, supported and nurtured through this time.

To date, I believe that we are effectively catering for the varied, individual and sensitive needs of most students and I would ask all parents to seek the support of the schools should you feel that would benefit your child’s learning and wellbeing .

We are currently exploring a new online platform for the Junior classes, which has more functions and easier to navigate for the students. We are inquiring into the benefits and barriers. In the meantime, we will continue with our current practices. Stay tuned.

We appreciate the resilience of our young people but at the same time, we all acknowledge the unique, complex and challenging context we are experiencing.  Working and supporting each other will only strengthen our capacities at this time.

NAPLAN

End of last week we received our 2021 NAPLAN results.  Huge congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students.  In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdowns and Remote Learning, our students maintained their learning growth. We are very proud of our Year 3 and Year 5 students for their achievements in these tests, it shows just how hard they have been working with their teachers and parents to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

To maintain confidentially the Year 3 and Year 5 students NAPLAN test results will be available for pick up between 8:30am-3:30pm this Thursday and Friday at the front office.

NOT RETURNING IN 2022?

If your circumstances have changed and you will not be returning to St Fidelis in 2022 can you please contact the school office before the end of Term 3. I have a waiting list in some of the year levels so it is very necessary you let the office know of your intentions for 2022 so I can offer your child’s position to other families.

NEW TILES & BRICK PAVERS - SLA

Last week we replaced a section of tiles outside the Senior Learning Area that were loose and cracked. We also repaired and re-grouted the loose brick pavers outside the hall. There are many little maintenance and gardening jobs that are required at St Fidelis and my hope is that when we are able to  return onsite, the maintenance team will organise some working bees to ensure St Fidelis always looks its best for our students, families and community.
