Principal News
Dear Sacred Heart School Community,
This week our whole school assembly focused on two important issues in our society today; Reconciliation with First Nations peoples and Well Being.
National Reconciliation Week
Our newly elected Prime Minister, Mr Albanese, mentioned First Nations people at the beginning of his acceptance speech last weekend. Today, the Year 4/5 students led the school through an awareness of National Reconciliation Week and what action we, as a school, can take to be part of the process.
Tomorrow, a group of parents are gathering at school to discuss the initiation and creation of a Sacred Heart school RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan), whereby we formalise the process of putting into place opportunities for our students to learn more about First Nations peoples, from Foundation to Year 6. If you would like to join us, please feel free to. The informal meeting will start @ 2.30pm in the staffroom.
Wellbeing
As part of our whole school Inquiry on Well Being, we have been focusing on how our actions and words can affect others, both negatively AND positively. We call these Bucket Fillers and Bucket Dippers. We fill other people's buckets when we are kind and thoughtful and say or do positive things to others. We dip into other's buckets when we do the opposite. Check these drops of water out....are the words and actions filling buckets or dipping buckets?
Good Samaritan Awards
These young people are definitely bucket fillers!!
Congratulations to these six students; Jacob, Rahim, Alyssa, Bhavin, Billie and Katelin for receiving their Good Samaritan awards today at assembly. They were all so proud to receive the award in front of their peers. Well done, guys!
Youth Leadership Victoria
I'd like to thank our parent/guardian community for their patience as we worked to find another after school care provider. Youth Leadership Victoria (YLV) will be providing this service. At the moment, YLV are still waiting for the department to register our school, however you are able to enrol your child/children by downloading the printable booking form and emailing the director (Rita) your form. She will then enter your details manually.
