In Term 1, students from grades 7-10 participated in the Young Readers’ Prize with 51 students completing the reading challenge for their year level. Well done to all the students who worked so hard to reach their goals, and even exceeded our expectations!

Reading a broad range of texts and genres is so important to growing up as a learner. It is especially important for elevating literacy skills. This term students from grades 7-10 will continue to read and review one book as part of their home learning. Please ask your young person what book they have chosen for this term, and encourage them to get stuck into a text that will be both enjoyable and challenging.

As the educator Frank Serafini puts it, “There is no such thing as a child who hates to read, there are only children who have not found the right book.”
