2020 Term 1 Primary School Cricket Competition

This weekend saw our two C Grade teams play against each other at the LNPS school oval.  It was a fun and relaxed atmosphere where we could applaud the efforts of both teams at the same time.

For some of our players, it was their first-time playing cricket.  For others, it was the first time playing for the school, alongside our returning players.  We had a mixture of experienced and non-experienced players on both sides.

The Blue team consisted of Molly, Noah (from Brompton Primary), Kobe, Josh, Brendon, Curtis, Calvin and Ethan.  The White team consisted of Cooper, Mitchell, Hayley, Murray, Chloe and Jasper.  Muhammad and Riley were both away.

Molly was captain of the Blue team and won the toss and elected to bat first.  Brendon and Noah were wicket keepers for the Blue team and Hayley and Murray were wicket keepers for the White team.

Below are the results: Blue 10/81 and White 9/102.Mitchell took 6 wickets in his 4 overs.  Other wickets fell off the bowling of Jasper (2), Cooper (1), Hayley (1), Molly (3), Kobe (1), Josh (1), Brendon (1), Calvin (1) and Ethan (2).

Both Brendon and Noah caught balls off Molly’s bowling.  Curtis almost took a catch as well.

Cooper hit two 4’s.

Chloe’s batting has improved, and she was able to hit many more balls than last year.  This will eventually lead to more runs for her.

At training on Thursday it was obvious that Hayley had been practicing her bowling over the school holidays.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks to Michael Crawford, who is coach of the White team, and to Russell Eaton for umpiring.  Also, thanks to Silvi Crawford and Kylie Roberts for scoring. Not everyone scored runs, but it is always like that at the first game.  With more training sessions coming up, they will become more confident.

Fixtures for Round 2 are as follows:  Saturday, 22nd Feb, 8:30 am.

LNPS White v Cowandilla PS at Cowandilla PS Oval

LNSP Blue v West Lakes Shore PS at LNSP oval

Feel free to bring your fold out chair and come along and watch these matches.

There are still two spots available for anyone in Year 4/5/6/7 to join the teams for this term.  Please contact me if your child is interested.

Kanga/Master Blaster cricket

If you have a child in Year 2/3 that would like to play cricket, then we have a Kanga/Master Blaster Cricket team that is looking for more players.  The contact is Greg Roberts, and I am happy to pass a message on to him if your child wants to play.  The games are held at Ledger Reserve in Woodville on Saturday mornings.

Last Saturday LNPS played Fulham North PS. It’s great to see the younger kids joining in and hopefully they will stick with it and eventually go up to C Grade when they reach Year 4.

Good cricket!

Soccer 2020

The soccer season is fast approaching and we had a record 9 teams last year.

If your child/ren are interested in playing soccer please fill in a registration of interest form (attached below) and return to the front office.

The school would not be able to offer soccer if it wasn't for the support of the parents. We are looking for a school soccer coordinator for 2020.

The role of the coordinator is to manage the school teams, attend an information/registration evening and communicate with families.

If this sound like something you would be able to do, could you please email me on vanessa.rushe993@schools.sa.edu.au or by phone on 84435544.
