Kids Corner

The “Kids’ Corner” section of our school newsletter provides the opportunity for the children to showcase their talents or communicate something special.

The first Kids Corner for the year have been written by Chenuka (Year 4), who is sharing all about his trip to Port Douglas.

My summer holidays

I had a great time in Port Douglas during my summer holidays.

First, we went to Melbourne airport and flew off to Cairns airport and we had a 1.5-hour drive to Port Douglas. We arrived at the apartment in Port Douglas around 3.30pm. The next day we went to the Daintree rainforest the world’s oldest rainforest and it is an environment for most native plants and animals and even dinosaurs in the olden days.

We went on a rainforest cableways which called Skyrail and Gondals and I had world’s most beautiful rainforest experience at Daintree.

Tour to the Mossman Gorge, one of the world heritage sites was an amazing experience too.

The next exciting thing was when we went to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure Park it’s an adventure park that has big crocs, gators snakes, frogs, lizards birds, and even freshwater turtles. I had the most unforgettable experience in my life to see a live crocodile feeding show and feeding the crocodiles on the boat.

Then we went to the Great Barrier Reef the biggest coral reef in the world and we went to do snorkelling and have a ride in a submarine. While on this tour we saw lots of fish crabs and turtles. Visiting the Great Barrier Reef and seeing the corrals was one of my biggest dreams.

Then the next day we went to a local market and drank king coconuts and tasted exotic tropical fruits such as jack fruit, lychees, and monkey bananas.

I had a fantastic time at Port Douglas and it was one of my best holidays so far !!!
