What's Happening at CHPS

Library News

After the excitement of getting the Library ready for the new carpet, it is now time to get back to the normal end-of-year tasks.

All student library books are now due back in the Library, as I have to commence stocktake.  Part of this has been done already as I have removed all the books from the shelves, but they now have to be put through the computer individually before re-shelving and the shelves get a good clean.  Please help by making sure your child’s books are returned as soon as possible if this has not already been done. I have not been able to put through any returns this week, but I will notify parents/carers shortly if books are still outstanding.

If your child has an overdue book at the end of the year it does not magically disappear from the system – it is carried over to next year and your child will not be able to borrow until this is rectified. If you have previously paid for a lost book and it turns up in good condition during stocktake (sometimes it has been in the classroom and is only found when tubs are cleaned out or teachers return their books.  Other times it is found in the library in the wrong spot) your money will be credited to your school account and you will be notified. Unless it is a very popular title I do not purchase a replacement until after stocktake for this reason.

Food For Families

This year we are again proud to join with Uniting in collecting non-perishable food items to brighten the Christmas period for families in need.  Collection boxes are in the foyer for our community to leave donations of non-perishable foodstuffs and personal care products, which will be distributed through Uniting in the weeks before Christmas.

We thank our families for their continuing generosity.

From Sophie in Sickbay

There has been a sharp increase in the number of COVID notifications the school has received in the past week, further highlighting the general advice that we are currently in the middle of a new Covid wave.  The school has a limited supply of RAT kits, so please speak to the office if your family needs extras.

We thank all families who are remaining vigilant with Covid processes and indeed, all families who are helping our community by keeping their children home if they are displaying any symptoms of illness.
