SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL SHOP: SECOND-HAND TEXTBOOK AND RESOURCE TRADING

Several years ago, the Sacred Heart College P&F developed the initiative to provide parents with the ability to trade second-hand items, except for College uniforms, via the Sustainable School Shop website (www.sustainableschoolshop.com.au). This service is easily accessible and preferences our school first before providing access to buy and sell items to and from families attending other schools. Access to second-hand textbooks, calculators, stationery, musical equipment and all other resources is available all year round. We hope that you make the most of the opportunity to recycle your child's school items annually as this will help all families at Sacred Heart.

SEMESTER TWO REPORTS

End of Year reports for students in Years 7-10 will be uploaded on SEQTA no later than Friday 16 December.

ACCESSING THE SEMESTER TWO REPORT

To view your child’s Semester Two Report, simply login to SEQTA with the username and password you have previously received from the College. If you have any technical issues accessing reports (e.g. passwords) please EMAIL Mr Colin Bradley at cbradley@sacredheart.wa.edu.au.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM GRADE

Student achievement is reported on a five point (A-E) scale against the Western Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards which describe expected achievement at each year level for each Learning Area, relative to the performance of the student's peer group. This is identified on the College Report as a State grade. Students will therefore receive two grades for most subjects: a School-based grade and a State grade. In all cases, apart from streamed classes, these two grades will be identical. In a streamed class, a student in Advanced might receive a 'C' (School) grade which equates to a 'B' (State) grade when compared to all students across the state. There are a number of subjects for which State grades are not reported. These include Religious Education, Project-based Learning, Astronomy, Sports Science and Fitness and Languages.

SEMESTER TWO ACADEMIC AWARDS

Students can receive two types of academic awards on their Semester Two Report:

  1. Sacred Heart Learner Awards - One student in each class is awarded the Sacred Heart Learner Award to acknowledge they have demonstrated one of the following behaviours/skills:
     - Innovation in tasks
     - Collaborative learning
     - Engagement in learning
     - Critical thinking skills
     - Perseverance in the learning process
     - Independent learning
  2. Academic Honours - This is awarded to a student who achieves ‘A’ grades for two-thirds of the school-based subjects they studied in a Semester.
     - To be eligible for this award, a student must also have completed at least 75% of the total assessment for each subject in which they have achieved an ‘A’ grade.
    -  If a student has more than 25% worth of standardised marks for a particular subject and achieves an ‘A’ grade for that subject, the ‘A’ grade is not counted toward the achievement of Academic Honours.
    - To be eligible for Academic Honours, a student must also achieve a ‘C’ grade or higher for Religious Education. State/Australian Curriculum ‘A’ grades achieved in Extension and/or Advanced classes are included in the calculation of Academic Honours.
  3. Always Striving Upwards Award - The Always Striving Upwards Award is a special Award that acknowledges up to nine students from each year group who, across the year, have demonstrated growth and commitment to the College, demonstrating this in their academics,Sacred Heart Learner attributes and co-curricular participation.

YEAR 10 EXAMINATION AND KOORINGAL COLLECTION

Students can collect their marked Year 10 Examination papers and their 2022 Kooringal from the RNDM Foyer between 10:00am and 11:00am on Wednesday 7 December.

Students and parents/caregivers should carefully review and reflect on their examination performance. Any student wishing to make a subject change for Year 11, 2023 should make an appointment with Mrs Rachel Allsop or Ms Amanda Knox on Thursday 8 or Friday 9 December.

YEAR 11 SEMESTER TWO REPORTS

Year 11 Semester Two Reports will be uploaded to SEQTA by Friday 2 December. Students and parents/caregivers are requested to check the Semester Two Report to ensure all data is correct. All final marks and grades are sent to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) and are used for the calculation of the award of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) at the completion of Year 12. Students and parents are requested to report any errors directly to me via email by Tuesday 6 December. Only the final marks and grades are sent to SCSA and not examination marks.

STUDENTS WHO CHANGED COURSES THIS YEAR

Students who commenced a new course in Semester Two receive a final mark and grade ONLY for the Semester Two unit (Unit 2). If a student changed a course they were studying in Semester One, the mark and grade for the Semester One (Unit 1) course will NOT appear on the Semester Two Report. The student will receive credit for the completed Semester One unit, based on the mark and grade that appeared on the student’s Semester One Report. Students can access their Semester One Report at any time on SEQTA to see the mark and grade that will be sent to SCSA.

2023 COURSES AND MAKING CHANGES

Each current Year 11 student was emailed a Subject Selection Confirmation Year 12, 2023 on Wednesday 30 November. This confirmation includes detailed information about how to make course change requests. Students and parents are urged to read carefully all details on the course allocation page on SEQTA.
