Stage Band performance at Valedictory Dinner
Sinclair McClimont, Year 8
On Thursday 16 November, the Stage Band performed background music at the Valedictory Dinner for students graduating this year. The event was held in the spectacular Betty Cuthbert Room at the MCG and offered the magnificent oval as a backdrop.
To play jazz music to an appreciative audience was fun, and it was a great experience playing alongside my friends. We performed several jazz standards of which my favourite was 'Perfidia', a lovely piece of music with a Latin-inspired feel.
The performance gave our enthusiastic soloists the chance to demonstrate their skill at improvisation. It was a great opportunity for the Stage Band to perform to a live audience. Our thanks go to the conductor, Mr Chris Higgins, for all his hard work.
This was also our last performance with Blake McDonald and Lucas Kallio, Year 12, as they are graduating this year. We will miss not only their expertise, but also their outstanding contribution to the Band.
