Catholic Identity and Mission

Welcome back to the new school year.  we trust everyone had a peaceful and joyous Christmas and family break.

Our opening School Mass will be held on Thursday 9th February at 11.30 am.

Mass will be held in the school gym ( Sacred Heart Centre).  Parents are welcome to come and celebrate Mass with us.

The readings of the Mass reflect the mission of the school which is to create a vibrant community where everyone feels welcome and is able to contribute willingly and productively.  We will hear in the Gospel about the Parable of the Mustard Seed.  This parable presents a view of the kingdom of heaven that illustrates how great things begin with a small step.  In this case it is a great tree that offers much to all that visit the tree. The tree begins as the smallest of seeds.  Each child, each program, each venture begins with something small and develops into something wonderful.  We pray that each family is able to see the richness in their child develop as they progress through their schooling at St Gabriel's School.

The Christmas Season

Many would think that the Christmas Season ended back in December! But in many Catholic traditions, February 2nd or the Presentation of Jesus is the last day of Christmas. On this day, many Catholics bring candles to the church to be blessed. They can then light these candles at home during prayer or difficult times as a symbol of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World. It is a lovely way to continue bringing Jesus' light into our lives long after the Christmas tree and stockings are gone.

Sacramental Programme

If there is a child in your family who is seeking to celebrate Reconciliation, Confirmation or Eucharist, you will see the details of the 2023 programme shortly.

Please be aware this is a Parish programme supported by the school.  Children seeking to receive the sacraments will need to be enrolled through the parish.

The parish connected with St Gabriel's school is the Clearview/ Kilburn Parish.  The Good Shepherd  Church is on St Albans Place, Clearview.  St Brigid's Church is on Le Hunte St in Kilburn.
