Tours for prospective students to NMPS

Our 2020 Enrolment Tours have been very well attended so far this term. The Year 6 ambassadors perform this role with great attention to the positives of our school and visitors have been greatly impressed.

Bookings are not required and our next tour is on Friday 2 August at 9am. Please meet at the school office at 9 am.

Being organised for wet, cold winter days

Most students and families go to considerable effort to ensure that when they arrive at school they are dressed appropriately for the weather and school activities; however it is important that you help your child/ren know that coats and hats and gloves are better for outside activities. I ask that you remind them to perhaps place gloves in coat pockets and/or in their ZIPPED UP school bag with their hats? Damp coats may be draped over ZIPPED UP bags.

I’d also suggest that naming these items of clothing might be a sensible way to ensure you don’t have to re-purchase throughout winter.

Head lice

We have recently had a few reports of our little head lice ‘friends’.

It relatively easy for head lice to be flicked from head to head (remember they don’t have legs and can’t jump!) when hats are removed.  For those with ‘free flowing’ hair styles, I’d suggest either cut it short or brush it and tie it up!

It's important to check your child's head regularly with conditioner and comb even when you don’t think your child has head lice. There is no research to prove that chemical or herbal therapies can prevent head lice.

How does the conditioner and comb method work? It’s a very cheap and effective way of finding head lice. Hair conditioner does not kill lice, but it does stun them for about 20 minutes, meaning they do not move around, and it is difficult for them to hang on. This gives you time to comb through the hair with a fine tooth (head lice) comb.
