Can you help!

Our students continue to make amazing things in their Inquiry and Genius Hour. To help support their learning, we want to create a makers space for them. We have started to collect resources, but if you have something that you don't need or want anymore, we would love to hear from you.

Resources might include:

- Tools

- Timber

- Material

- Paint

- Sewing stuff

- Anything you think students can make things out of

Thanks in advance.

Ride to School

Ride 2 School last Friday was amazing! Students were encouraged to ride/scoot/walk to school on this day.  Students were encouraged to decorate their bikes/scooters for the event. There was a ride around parade, where each class had the opportunity to ride around the oval and show off.  Parents/careers were invited to stay and enjoy the spectacle. Thanks to all those who made it and for the wonderful decorations! Prizes were given to students from each.. well done for the effort!

Inter-School Sports

In week 7, we had our first Inter-School matches against St Fidelis. Students played spiritedly and showed our School Values with pride.

Sadly we will have no more matches till further notice. Nevertheless, we will still be practicing on Fridays after Lunch.

Inquiry

This term our students have been focusing on how we show our school values in our community. Students developed questions in areas that interested them. For example: Filtering and recycling water, animals in the bush fires, keeping our sharks safe.

Students then contributed an image of their discoveries onto a mural, representing our school values.

Literacy Circle

Literature circles differ from other small group instructional approaches like guided reading in several ways:

  • can be heterogeneous groups formed around students’ interests
  • student selected text
  • focus on higher level thinking skills: author’s intent, writing style, characterisation, etc.
  • teacher is more of a facilitator/observer/encourager.

We have started this year with a common book to model and get a full understanding of the roles and how Literacy Circle works. Students are then asked to make a poster showing their learning.  These will be up in our area for you to view once completed.

The Builder's in Mathematics

The Builders is a rotation program where the students engage in applied learning task, exploring all areas of mathematics. AND it is done in English and Spanish. During the rotations, students are also provided time to work on their independent learning goal through SeeSaw and Essential Assessment. As well as this, students also attend targeted workshops with a teacher.
