Ride2School Day

It was great to see so many of our 2/3 students get involved to support Ride2School day. We saw dressed up scooters bikes as the students showed their stuff during the parade. 

Congratulations to Violet, Stella and Bernardo on winning best dressed bike. 

Reminders

- Last day of Term 1  is Friday the 27th, 2.30pm finish.

- Due to the current Coronavirus we will be re scheduling school photos. Updates will be provided at a later stage.

Devices and Passwords

Parents have been provided will all student logins and passwords for our online learning platforms. these include Bug Club, Study Ladder and Typing Club. Bug Club is our take home reading program and students are encouraged to read each night. Study Ladder and Typing Club provide student with any extras they would like to do at home. We will be using all of these platforms in the classroom at various times. 

We have also provided parents with Seesaw logins and encourage you log in so you are able to enjoy your child's work. 

Online Spanish Reader details will be sent home in week 9

Any more student devices need to be given to teachers to set up before Thursday 26th March (week 9).

Los Exploradores

In Term 2 we will be introducing Los Exploradores:

 

As part of our Inquiry topic, “what is in our backyard?” students from Grades 2/3 will begin the program “Los Exploradores” (the explorers).

During session four every Friday (1pm to 2pm) students from the 2/3 area will investigate our local environment including Edgars and Merri Creek.  The students will be exposed to Wurundjeri language and history, experimental art, local flora and fauna and concepts related to sustainability.

The project incorporates our four keystones:

  • Learner: The learning is based around the curriculum areas of Humanities and Science.
  • Collaborator: Learning through social experience.
  • Communicator: Students exploring and discussing local environment.
  • Inquirer: Students lead their learning generating new questions and wonderings from their experiences.

Teachers attending: Cass Mandile, Isabelle Evans, Bronia Ratuszynski-Connolly, Luke Cripps and Jose Ortega.

As this is a local excursion, no permission slips are required. If you would like more information, please do not hesitate in contacting your classroom teacher.
