Facilities

A reminder of our first Facilities meeting for the year on Thursday 12 March, 7.30pm, Conference Room.

All parents are welcome to come along and contribute to improving the facilities in the College. Please ring Chris Salisbury at the College if you would like to be involved.

The last couple of weeks have proven to be extremely busy with the main focus on the new Senior School. Bricklaying, roof installation, window installation and electrical works are some of the many activities on the go and it really is very exciting to watch. Much of our work over the past fortnight has revolved around repairs following the torrential rain and we continue to patch up damaged areas. Unfortunately our beautiful oval lemon scented gum was split during the storm.

Other smaller works include:

-Projector installation/replacement

-Oval works

-Air Conditioners installation (212P and 304P)

-Service of Junior School Air conditioner

-Repairs to Gym entrance

-Staff recreation area development-A big thanks to one of our parents for creating a beautiful water feature.

-Service of gas heaters and air conditioners

Swimming Carnival 2020

Just one week into their new school year, our Ringwood students were both spoiled and challenged by the arrival of the Swimming Carnival. This tradition sparks friendly but fierce competition amongst the four Houses as it is their first opportunity to earn points and gain some ground in the marathon that is the race for the coveted House Cup.

The Carnival commenced with the esteemed costume parade, where Ringwood’s finest – and funniest – fashion icons took to the cat walk to show off their looks. The Bananas in Pyjamas, Tetris Blocks, Shrek, the Sleepover Club and many more classic and creative costumes were spotted on the day, with the rest of the students and staff sporting their House colours with pride.

Aquanation was truly alive with the sound of music as Dane’s Den returned for another year of entertainment led by its namesake, Mr Dane Sorensen. A stream of ‘Open Mic’ performances, karaoke, choreographed dances and hilarious commentary flooded the outdoor area, a perfect backdrop for those students participating in novelty events outside, kicking the footy or just chatting with friends on the warm grass. Onlookers were awestruck by the vast range of talent, and it was particularly pleasing to see some new Year 7s pluck up the courage to perform for their peers.

Inside, the headline events of swimming and diving gave our students the opportunity to exhibit their aquatic prowess in the hopes of bringing glory to their House in the shape of a blue ribbon. Staff were kept on their toes, tasked with timing races and judging dives, whilst the keenest competitors took part in every available event, much to the joy of their supporters. Some students blew their opponents out of the water – figuratively speaking – whilst others enjoyed a leisurely paddle just for the participation points. We witnessed everything from cringe-worthy belly-whacks to flawless butterflies, and would like to recognise and thank all participants for their efforts!

Congratulations to the 2020 Age-Group Champions:

13 Yr:  Yarra Allen and Emily Doyle

14 Yr:  Finlay Hughes and Betty Geng

15 Yr:  Luke Barr and Summer Doyle

16 Yr:  Brian Matanasiga and Lucy Reed

17 Yr:  Ben Gosbell and Kate Hine

20 Yr:  Jack Stelfox and Tarni Cavanagh

Congratulations also to our House Winners Freeman. Although seriously challenged by Frazer this year, they continue to maintain their winning streak at the swimming.

With the weather on our side, the well-planned day unravelled seamlessly. A massive thank you to Ms Boutsikakis and Mr Ingleton for their skilled organisation, and also to the staff and students for their participation and support.

Good luck to all students moving onto District Swimming on March the 16th.
