Principal's Report

Simone Wood, Principal

Hi Everyone,

The last 2 weeks have been eventful with our school photos and then our Winter sports. Two mixed Netball teams participated at Romsey Primary School for Winter Sports, and it was an exciting day with one of the teams coming close to the next phase of competition. From student reports, they had a great time. This week just past there was the Network Sustainability conference hosted by Newham Primary School. I popped in a few times to see the presentations in progress and caught up with our sustainability team on my last visit. They were so proud of what they had been able to do for Newham’s presentation and so enthusiastic about some of the things they heard other schools are doing and they are keen to be able to bring some of these ideas to our school. I would like to thank our sustainability leaders, Leo, Sophie, Freya, and Lewis for their fantastic effort with their presentation and I would also like to thank their parents for supporting them in their practice at home before the big day. Of course, none of this would be possible without Libby. A huge thank you to Ms Fullard for her wonderful efforts in bringing the work our students do to the eyes and ears of our larger communinty.

It is going to be exciting to see where the sustainability team see us heading next with our endeavours.

This week we have also had the Community representative from Bunnings come out to see how we have used their donations. It is wonderful that they wish to continue this partnership and help us with projects (including the Frog Pond) around the school.

Our excursion to Werribee Zoo was highly anticipated by our students. They were SO excited! A huge thank you to our students, staff, and volunteer parents for making the day run so smoothly. We were very fortunate that so many of the animals were out and about and active on the day. We were able to hear keeper talks and go on safari. The P-2 classes even participated in the release of a frog back into its habitat and we all felt that the time just flew by!

There are more reports on all of these things further into this newsletter.

At the end of next week our School Review process begins. Information has been sent home to families and is also here in the newsletter, encouraging parents to participate in the field-work forum. Please do come along.

A French Day next Wednesday will provide some activites and cooking with a French flavour! as well as a free incursion related to West African Drumming. A lovely segue from our safari at Werribee.

We have a Curriculum Day coming up on the 13th June. We will be continuing the very important work being done on SWPBS, curriculum planning and first aid processes on this day.
