Can you believe we are almost at the half way mark for the term? We've been having so much fun that it is just flying by.
In Reading we have been learning to identify the main idea and supporting details of non-fiction texts. Using this information, we have been learning to summarise texts in a succinct way. In Writing we have been learning about researching and writing Information Reports. We have also been working on increasing our writing stamina and learning about some uncommon spelling patterns. In Maths we have been developing our written multiplication strategies, including the vertical and grid methods.
In our topic we have been expanding our knowledge of different types of vegetation, including the different vegetation found in South America and Africa. We have been exploring our neighbours, including New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia and Puapa New Guinea.
On Thursday the 18th of May the Grade 3/4s went to Melbourne Zoo. Upon arrival we were joined by the Zoo Educators Simon and Sally who took us through the 'Change and the Environment' program. In the program we looked at the Indigenous seasons and what to look for when identifying change, including signs of life (feathers, etc), size of plants and types of insects. After we finished our program we had a chance to explore the Zoo. We saw some incredible animals including elephants, tigers, lemurs, monkeys, birds, otters and many, many more! We had such a fantastic day and were incredibly proud of the behaviour of our students. We look forward to another great excursion next term! A big thank you to the parent helpers, and those who offered to help with the day. We appreciate your suppor
