Principal's Report

Principal's Message
Dear Families,
This week I had the privilege of working with the Year 4 Students and their Parents at our Family Faith Night as we prepare for the Sacrament of Eucharist. It was so good to see all of our families sharing stories and expressing their faith in action, during the course of the activities.
It is always a very special time in our Parish Sacramental program when the Year 3's receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Year 4's - First Eucharist and the Year 6's - Confirmation.
I wish all of our Year 4 Students a wonderful night next Tuesday as they receive the Sacrament for the first time, in front of their parents and extended families.
My thanks to Mr. Anderson, Miss Antonio and Mr. Mills for preparing the students for this Sacrament of Initiation. Thanks also to the St. Finbar's Staff for their support of the Year 4 Students as well.
Principal's Conference and Long Service Leave
Next week (Week 5) I will be attending the South Central Catholic Principal's Network Conference in Darwin. We will be visiting a number of Educational facilities whilst in Darwin and the Tiwi Islands. I am also going to visit Miss Sophie Chow at her new school in Karama - Darwin. Miss Chow was a graduate teacher at St. Finbar's for the past 2 years teaching Year 3. I am looking forward to delivering some cards and letters from the St. Finbar's students to her.
During the second week of my absence - Week 6 - I will be taking Long Service Leave so I can visit Yirrkala School in East Arnhem which we have a friendship with. St. Finbar's Students have been meeting online with the students of Yirrkala for the past 2 years, sharing different perspectives about life and indigenous themes. I will be visiting the school on Monday 29th May. It will be fun to set up a Google meet with the St. Finbar's Students whilst I am there. I will post a few photos and some video footage whist I am up there on our school social media pages. I am expecting to be back for assembly on Friday 2nd June to share my experiences with the students.
During my absence, Ms. Michelle Hill and Mr. Steele Anderson will be Co-Acting Principal's. Both Ms. Hill and Mr. Anderson have my full confidence to run the school during my absence. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to leave the school in such qualified and experienced hands.
