Junior School Update

A lot has happened over the past 2 weeks.

Last week, to emphasise the importance and broadness of this Learning Area, being HaSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) Week, Junior School students engaged in fun competitions and activities. Fun had by all.

There were several activities that were held in the Kaadadjiny Hub and Years 4 to 9 students were able to choose the activities they wished to participate in during lunch time.

Activities included:

  • Fun with Flags Competition (Monday)
  • Movie Madness in the auditorium - “Night at the Museum” (Monday and Tuesday)
  • Lego Competition (Wednesday and Thursday)
  • GeoGuessr (All week)
  • Country Emoji Quiz (All week)
  • Collaborative colouring activity and Colour-in-competitions

All the Year Three students enjoyed a visit to the Schoenstatt Shrine in Mt Richon. The Schoenstatt Shrine is a place of grace where the Blessed Mother is honoured as the “Mother Thrice Admirable Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt”. The retreat was a part of the Sacrament of Reconciliation preparation, of which all students enjoyed visiting the chapel and learning relevant readings and more about love for ourselves, and each other, sorry and forgiveness with Sister Lisette. “What is God’s most special gift to this world? You are!”

Year 5 students have been digging deeper in Australia’s history in the year 1820. Content research included information about penal colonies (Swan River, Norfolk Island, Port Phillip, Moreton Bay), convicts and significant events around Australia. This has been quite timely for our focus across the College on Sorry Day.
