The Golden Rule

We have spent a great deal of time sharing our experiences and wisdom with The Golden Rule: TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WISH TO BE TREATED. We are focused on the simplicity of this action and how this can impact every person we interact with in our lives. The children engage in with excitement, innocence and very logically. We link The Golden Rule with the Fruit of the Spirit and how they are intertwined together. This week in Assembly and Religion and Values Education we discussed the Christian connection of the Golden Rule in the Bible (Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31), creating an understanding of Jesus’ message. The children embraced this greatly, also with love and engagement.

A Special Thank You!

Well done to all! It has been a very busy and hectic time of the year. The children, staff and parents have worked extremely hard and the strong commitment and support to the College is witnessed within our school community. A common element amongst your children is their kindness and gratitude, a virtue which is evident in how they treat and respond within their community. They engage with the opportunity to learn more. The children bring excitement and happiness to all whom they interact with. Enjoy your children as they grow up in a blink.

I am on Long Service Leave for Term 3 and I welcome Miss Felicity Donohue as Acting Head of Fairview.  I therefore wish you all well and a wonderful term ahead.

Swimming

The Fairview Swimming Program is scheduled for Term 3. The Swimming Program is a compulsory component of your child’s Life Skills program. The program occurs at Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre in Craigieburn. The excursion form will be distributed next term, dates and times are listed below.

Life Education Program

As part of our Term 3 Life Skills program we are having the Life Education mobile classroom visit the College from Tuesday 27 August to Monday 2 September.

The Life Education program helps to facilitate the development of Life Skills in students. Lessons are always age appropriate and the children will be covering a wide range of health-related topics, ranging from the human body and how it works, healthy eating and nutrition, medicines and drugs, bullying, resilience and social skills.

Healthy Harold, the much-loved Life Education giraffe mascot, is always a much-anticipated element of the Life Education visit.

The sessions are engaging and interactive, they are also linked to the Fairview Life Skills program and the Integrated Units. They extend and develop the children’s understanding of the topics covered.  We are able to further broaden these topics in class both prior to and after the Life Education visit with the student workbooks that are provided. It is important that your child attend this session.

The Life Education Educator will also present an information session for parents, further information will be available late July.
