Religious Education

WELCOME

Welcome to everyone in the St Finbar’s community. It is my privilege to join this thriving and vibrant environment. I have been warmly welcomed and thank those people who have introduced themselves and had a chat.  Please continue to introduce yourselves and the names and year levels of your children. It has been delightful visiting each class and being involved in Celebration week; what a wonderful way to commence 2018.

My role is to support and lead the community in Religious Education and Faith, in conjunction with: Father Ian, Pat, Nigel, all the staff, parents and of course our beautiful students. Teaching in Catholic schools is more than a job, it is becoming part of a community with Jesus at the core of all that we strive to do.

At the staff Mass, on Tuesday, Father gave each of us a small gift.  We were each presented with an envelope with 'Take a look at the future of Catholic Education at St Finbar’s'  written on the outside of an envelope and inside was a small mirror. This gesture was both simple and profound. As educators it is our intent to learn with our students, your children, in an environment of hope, wonder and excitement. At the centre of this is to experience God’s love in all that we do, as we all seek meaning in the world around us. Integral to all of this is our theme of ‘Take Action. Make a difference.’ This theme challenges each of us to: honour the sacred dignity of each person, search for truth, embrace difference and diversity, build a culture of learning together, engage with the deep questions of life, honour equitable access and opportunity for all and thus make a difference in the world.

I look forward to forming a Faith Team and together with our Year 6 Social Justice Captains achieving many initiatives this year.

You are all warmly invited to our Welcome Mass this Friday 9th February, where many of the students are involved.

Peace and blessings to each of you.
