Carnivals and Interschool Sport

What strange times we are living in! For those of us who rely on sport for a mental break, socialising or just to keep fit it has been quite challenging however, here at Koonung we are resilient and work our way around challenges. During remote learning our Sport & House Captains ran numerous virtual sporting activities via Compass and the Koonung Instagram page to gain points and keep the house spirit alive. Given the House Athletics carnival was unfortunately cancelled students were encouraged to submit videos/photos of their amazing trick shots, dress up in their team colours, compete in a cross country challenge online or in their chosen sport.

Thank you to all those students and teachers who participated in the various activities, both sport and otherwise, to earn valuable points for their house. Keep an eye on Compass for more activities that can earn  house points.

The current house points tally

1st - McCubbin – 1885

2nd - Streeton – 1701

3rd - Roberts – 1584

4th - Condor – 1548

At this stage SSV Interschool Competitions are still suspended until further notice. If there are any changes for Term 3 or 4, this will be communicated through Compass newsfeeds and in Sport Education (Years 7 & 8) classes.

It is important to keep up your physical activity at home or in local sporting groups to ensure optimal physical and mental health during this time and I look forward to seeing you all out representing Koonung in SSV competitions very soon.
