LIBRARY NEWS

This Week in the Library

Welcome to week 5, we’re nearly halfway through Term 3! Usually, I would be talking all about Book Week and either the dress-up parade or the Booknic by now, however, this year Book Week has been moved to Week 2 of Term 4 so this term looks a little different. That said, this week we are starting to read the Children’s Book Council of the Year ‘Books of the Year’ to see if we agree with the judges’ decisions announced next term.

This week, Kindergarten are starting with ‘Goodbye House, Hello House’ by Margaret Wild which is a story about the things we say goodbye to when we move house and hello to in our new homes. Across all stages, we are learning about this year’s Book Week theme ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ and what this might look like when we read stories.

K-2 will be reading the ‘Early Childhood Books of the Year’, Stage 2 will be exploring the ‘Picture Books of the Year’ and Stage 3 will be using the CBCA criteria to evaluate books across a number of categories. For more information about the CBCA Book of the Year, visit their website.

Premier’s Reading Challenge Reminder

Don’t forget that the PRC ends next week, Friday 28th August. By this date, participants need to have logged all their books and then return their reading log as soon as possible after this. If you need any help to finish the challenge, please let me know so I can get you all across the line! Congratulations to our latest PRC reading superstars!.

Last Week in the Library

We had Kinder sorting books into fiction and non-fiction, Stage 1 reading ebooks on SORA, lots of kids being the first borrowers of new books and students just having fun. The library is the place to be!

Last, but not least, meet Thomas Taylor and a new book by... Thomas Taylor. Thomas' twin George is not sure if it's really him though...

Happy reading,
