Areas of Support

Special Things From Home

Throughout our days there are moments were our children need a little support to help them regulate their emotions.  Some feelings can be BIG and others small.  Over the course of the year, we have had lots of special toys come to Curiosity for a visit and others have become regular attenders.  Moving forward we would ask that these special toys remain at home or in the car awaiting your child's return please.  Mrs Gliddon will have a basket of special toys that children can seek out if they require a little friend to help them feel comforted.  If this presents a huge issue for your child please speak to your child's teacher.

Lunch Boxes and Fruit Time

As the year continues to move quickly it is wonderful to see the physical growth of our children.  With this comes an increase of appetite and a need for more complex carbohydrates to be made available to your child.  We are always happy to make sandwiches for our hungry friends however if you could be packing enough food for your child to sustain their entire day that would be wonderful.

We have introduced 'Fruit Time' as part of our end of day reflection time so there is always an opportunity for your child to have a 'crunch and munch' then also.  Curiosity provides the fruit for this time so there is no need to send an extra piece of fruit unless you have an amazing harvest of fruit on trees at home that you might like to donate.

Toileting

We love to celebrate with our children and toilet training is one of those milestones that receives many 'yahoo' moments at Curiosity.  Many of our children require assistance with hygiene after going to the toilet, however we have noticed that many children are not wiping themselves in the correct direction which can cause infection.  This is something that takes co-ordination and consistent support at home along with reminders that toilets should be flushed and hands washed afterwards.  We will continue to offer support to your child in this area but ask that you focus on this at home please.
