A Sneak Peak into Term 3

Week 2 - Fire and Lock In Drills

During this week we will participating in a Fire and Lock In drill to ensure that our staff and children are prepared if there is ever a need to activate this area of safety.  Under our regulations, these drills must be done every 3 months so we will have a set in Week 2 and in Week 10 of this term on different days to ensure that all of our children have the opportunity to experience how calm it can be and to know what to do.

Week 4 - Meet & Greet Your Lead Teachers

It has been a while since we have been able to meet with you as a parent community so we are excited to announce that we have set aside Wednesday the 12th of August for us to come together.  To assist with social distancing and contact tracing we will run two sessions, one at 4-5pm and then from 6-7pm at Curiosity ELC.  Mrs Karen and Mrs Oborn look forward to presenting to you the lines of inquiry that your children have been engaged with over the course of the year thus far and what possibilities lie ahead into the future.

Week 5 - Science Week

This week we will join with children around Australia, to hypothesis, investigate and participate in some experiments.  During this week we will have some Tables of Discovery for our children to engage with.  If you have a keen mind for anything Science and would like to present some experiments with a small group of children and an educator please let Mrs Gliddon know as we would love to have some parents joining us during this time.

Week 6 - Book Week

Every year the The Children's Book Council of Australia puts forth a recommended list of Australian authors who have penned a new book for children to enjoy.  Each year our bookshelves are flooded with beautifully illustrated and thoughtful stories that delight children's imaginations.  We have purchased many of these books and will begin exploring them together with the children soon.  You can peruse the shortlist of books that are up for awards via the following website.

To celebrate Book Week 2020 with the theme 'Curious Creatures and Wild Minds!' we will celebrate with our Curiosity families by conducting a Dress Up March at the school.  In preparation for this day, we ask that you mark the morning of Wednesday the 26th of August as our March day and consider creating a costume from either your child's favourite book or maybe you could even dream up a Curious Creature?

Keep your eye out for further information.

Week 7 - Happy Snap Time - ELC Photos!

This term we will have our inaugural ELC Photos!  On Thursday the 3rd of September, Tania Pile from Photoplay Studios will be coming to capture your child's photo and collate a Curiosity 2020 snapshot for us.

Information packs will be placed in your child's Communication Pockets next week for you to collect.

If your child does not attend on a Thursday, we ask that you arrive at 8am with your child dressed in their Curiosity t'shirts to take a priority spot for their photo's to be taken please.

You may choose for your child to not have their photo taken and this is absolutely fine.  Please let us know if this is what you have decided to do so that we are not chasing your envelopes for payment.  Payments can be made in cash, by card on the day or online.

Week 9 & 10 - Living & Learning Conversations

As we missed out on sharing with you in person your child's learning in Term 1 due to COVID-19, we are looking forward to sharing with you this term.

These conversations will take place at Curiosity ELC with Mrs Oborn and Mrs Karen. Appointments will be made via a link to School Interview which we will send to you in Week 5.  Appointments will be 10 minutes each with an opportunity to then meet with Mrs Gliddon to then look at your child's Learning Journey Folders.

We look forward to sharing these conversations with you.
