Principal's Announcements

Apology Breakfast

Myself, Mons Peter and our newly elected Student FIRE Carriers, represented St Mary's at Apology Breakfast in Shepparton last week. Xavier Morgan, Sienna Smith, Darcy Shanahan, Noah Kennedy, Eden Woodward, Lila Kate Niederle and Charla Varapodio are pictured above with one of our ex students, Shontay Charles who read at the ceremony.  The day celebrated the 12th anniversary of the National Apology to Aboriginal people for the Stolen Generation.

Welcome BBQ!

It was great to see everyone at our Welcome BBQ last week. It was a lovely way to welcome new families to St Mary's and the Prep children enjoyed their special liturgy beforehand.  Thank you to the P&F for organising and cooking the BBQ.

Opening Mass

Our Opening Mass was once again a beautiful celebration.  Thanks to Mrs Lee for organising, Mrs Hicks and the choir, as well as all the readers, dancers and altar servers.

Prep Coffee Morning

I'm looking forward to joining our Prep parents and carers  for a coffee next Monday morning at Bill & Beats.  The gathering starts at midday.

Road Safety

As you would all be aware, drop off and pick up time is a very hectic and busy time of the day with many people, cars and bikes around the school grounds.  I urge all parents and caregivers to read this document and the discuss the importance of road safety with your children.  I also remind all parents of the importance to follow road rules and park in designated spaces only.  Thank you for your understanding.

Gr 6 Leadership Day

The Grade 6 students joined over 400 students from the Goulburn Valley last week at a special leadership day. The speakers included Bianca Chatfield (ex Australian Netball Captain), Fr Rob Galea and Richmond Premiership players Marlion Pickett and Shai Bolton, all gave some great insight about their journey and the leaders they look up to and admire.  Here are some student reflections from the day:

You are not a leader if you boss people around.

It’s not about what you look like, it’s about what you do that makes you a leader.

Fr. Rob said he was shy but when he was singing, he was so confident. This is how you can be a leader.

You can be a great leader no matter what!

School Board AGM

Our School Board Annual General Meeting is taking place on Tuesday 17th March at 7:30pm.  All parents and carers are welcome to attend.  If there is anyone interested in being a parent representative on the Board please contact myself at school or the School Board Chair Glenn James (0418 575 212).

Welcome Back Dakota!

I was thrilled to see Dakota McCabe back at school this week after her major surgery at the RCH a couple of weeks ago.  What a courageous and resilient young girl!

Support For Regulating Emotions

The CASEA Program is an early intervention service for young children (focusing mainly on children in Prep to Year 3) with challenging behaviours and difficulties in regulating emotions.  If you would like your child to take part in the program or have any questions please contact me at school.  See flyer below:
