Love Your Sister Special Event

We are very excited to announce that next Thursday, 28th November we are having a special visit from Samuel Johnson, founder of LOVE YOUR SISTER.  Sam will be talking to the whole school community about his incredible work raising money for cancer research in honour of his brave sister Connie.  This is a whole school event and we would love to extend an invitation to all parents and families to attend.  Sam will be speaking in the auditorium from 10.00am, and will be available for photos afterwards.  This is a fundraising event, with all money raised going towards cancer research.  We are asking students to bring along silver coins which will be used to spell out ‘RNPS’ out on the basketball court.  Merchandise will also be available to purchase on the day.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

Parent and Volunteer Afternoon Tea

On Friday 13th of December, we will be hosting an afternoon tea for all of those people who have helped out in and out of the classrooms. RNPS is so grateful for all of the wonderful parent and volunteer helpers who have been part of classroom programs, PMP, Big on Books, acted as class reps, helped with performances, fete committees and a host of other things. If you have offered your time, expertise or help in any way, we would love the opportunity to show our gratitude with afternoon tea at 2pm on the 13th of December in the SMART building.

Friendology

Some of you may have heard your children talking about a program called 'Friendology'. This is a fantastic program that we have been trialling in certain classes that looks at helping students to develop strategies and vocabulary around managing friendship conflicts, recognising healthy friendships and working through a process when talking about challenges they may be facing with their peers. The response from teachers and students has been wonderful, and we can already see some of the language used in this program creeping in to conversations students are having. The principles of this program align with our C-HOPE model of Positive Education, and some of the resources and ideas from Friendology have been making their way into our Connect Groups.

There are some excellent parent resources available that are well work a look. Check them out here: https://urstrong.com/parents/

Connect Group Fun!

Last week it was awesome to see students having a blast in Connect Groups, working together on some team challenges. Students had an opportunity to put their Growth Mindset and Positive Self Talk into action while participating in some exciting games. We have one more Connect Group coming up during the last few weeks of term, and we would love to have as many parents as possible coming along to join in!

2020 Prep Orientation BBQ and

One of the highlights of this week was seeing the 2020 Preps meet their buddies and enjoy a BBQ together. Both the new Preps and the Year 5 students looked so excited to meet each other, and spend a little time getting to know each other. We are all so looking forward to the newest members of the RNPS family starting here next year, and this was such a pleasant way to round off what has been a great transition program!

Basketball Court works

There was much excitement on Thursday morning when students arrived to find one of the basketball courts fenced off and full of trucks, diggers and other equipment! There are some works occurring over the next few days to remove underground storage tanks (not THAT exciting!) but it's a cool opportunity for students to see some demolition in action!

The works should be completed within the next week.
