SAPSASA Netball Competition

Congratulations to Jasmine B, Ruby B, Tia J and Abby B on being selected for the Western SAPSASA Netball Team.

The girls were involved in a competition during Week 5 which was  played at Priceline Stadium with students from many other schools around the state. When asked  what they enjoyed most about the experience they said "getting to know other students", "singing all the songs", "playing at Priceline Stadium" and "going to Fasta Pasta".

Well done girls.

New Soccer Jumpers

A huge thank you to Dan and Diane, our Soccer coordinators, for coming up with the design and ensuring that children in our soccer teams are keeping warm this winter. These new jumpers don't only keep the children warm they are also making them feel a sense of belonging to their team and school. A big thank you to all the families that supported this initiative, the number was overwhelming.

We think they look great!!

The ugly parent at sport

Do you know one?

Have you seen one?

Have you been one?

I have been coaching for over 30 years and if the truth be known, we all really have at some stage said something we shouldn't have....and later on thought "maybe I shouldn't have said, or done that!" ....and you cringe. We are human. We are adults and hopefully learn from our mistakes.

Coaches of kids sports are volunteers. Without them there would be no kid's sports. Grange is very blessed to have so many volunteer their time to coach sporting teams. The sports committee have written in consultation with Junior Sporting bodies a school sporting policy.

We include it below.

PARENTS' CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

*     Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours.

*     Encourage children to participate, do not force them

*     Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing

*     Encourage children to always participate according to the rules

*     Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game

*     Remember that children learn best by example

*     Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities

*     Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do likewise

*     Show apreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could          not participate

*     Support your child(ren) to be punctual and to inform the coach if unable to attend practice or the               match

So when you go to sport this weekend, please think twice before you say, or do something. And remember to support the children out there playing and encourage them in a positive fashion. Lead by example. Remember to treat others the way you like to be treated, with respect.........isn't that one of our school values?
