Year 9 Camp ‘The Adventure’ 2019
The Adventure camp to The Grampians was an experience that the Year 9 students found the most challenging and rewarding part of The Voyage program. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience challenges in a supportive environment, try new things, experience some incredible views, build on their friendships and possibly develop new ones throughout the week. The boys and girls camps both focused on the overarching theme of ‘challenges - how they form our identity’. They explored what makes them the person they are and how they contribute to the wider community. This was experienced through physical, emotional and social challenges that the students were faced with throughout The Adventure.
The staff on both camps were amazed with the students' endurance, resilience and willingness to give all aspects of the camp their best shot. I am sure the students came away from this camp with a sense of personal achievement and an understanding that trying new things outside of their comfort zone will stretch them and lead to personal growth; a life lesson that we can all hold on to and need to be constantly reminded of.
A special thanks go to the Endeavour staff who supported The Adventure camp so well. Along with the staff of Tandara Lutheran Camp who supported everything we implemented throughout the week.
The camp this year was one of the best camps. There were many challenges and activities that rushed our adrenaline. The Leap of Faith was challenging but very rewarding. Rock-climbing and abseiling were really exciting. Spending time and being able to connect with my Voyage class was the biggest highlight.
Our highlight of the Year 9 Voyage camp were the hikes. The views were breathtaking and the hikes themselves pushed each of us to our limits. This camp was a great bonding experience for all the girls, the encouragement and positivity demonstrated how close the group came together.
One thing that I thought was one of the most challenging things was the abseiling because it's a really unnatural feeling going backwards off a cliff, there was the harness but my brain just completely forgot about that. I was scared and worried but after it was done and a few minutes later I realised it was really fun and enjoyable.

Catherine Obst Year 8 Lutheran Schools Public Speaking Competition
On Thursday 21 November, Aashna Dhingra competed in the annual Lutheran Schools Year 8 Public Speaking Competition. Students from seven different Lutheran schools participated in the event and each proved to be fierce competition. In preparation for the event, students were given a list of topics to choose from and were then required to write and rehearse a three-minute long speech. Aashna’s delivery of her speech, ‘The Voices of Young People Must Be Heard’, was inspiring and convincing. She impressed the judges with her broad use of vocabulary and her zeal. The competition was very close, with Concordia College finishing in first place. Aashna is commended for her determination and confidence.
