Sport Report

Thank you to all of the students who continue to contribute to our sporting program here at Endeavour College. During Weeks 4 and 5 a number of our regular players were unavailable due to the Year 9 Voyage camp to the Grampians. Many of our Year 8 students accepted the challenge and filled in for these students, and  their contributions were greatly appreciated. We hope this taste of school sport will get them involved in future competition. A big thank you also extends to our parents who continue to support our students in their sporting endeavours and give them opportunities to develop their God given abilities through sport. SACSA sport has finished for the year and we look forward to a packed calendar of SACSA carnivals next year. We are finishing our second year of full affiliation with SACSA sports and have been impressed with the organisation and level of competition which is provided on these days. The carnivals also provide students with a safe and supportive Christian environment in which to compete. We value the hard work and dedication Zoe Steele has committed to the SACSA community and committee over the past years and wish her well as she moves to other ventures.

SAPSASA Cricket and Tennis

In Week 5, six of our Year 7 students were chosen to participate in SAPSASA District Sports teams. Callie Weiss and Zoe Morrison played in the Adelaide North East District Tennis Team. They played approximately four games each day, with their team finishing 2nd overall in their division.

Alison Barnes was chosen to represent the district in cricket with her team finishing 7th at the end of the week. Alison managed to take 7 wickets throughout the week.

Joshua Sloan, Harry Willsmore and Ryan Nixon were also chosen to represent the Adelaide North East District in cricket. Joshua made 43 runs on one day, Harry made 41 runs not out and took 3 wickets for 11 runs. Ryan captained the team, taking 6 wickets during the week.

Well done to each of these students on their selection in the district teams and their own individual successes. We would like to thank parents for their support of this competition.

SAPSASA Cricket Cup Carnival

The Year 7 Girls and Boys Cricket teams had a successful day out last week, both winning all of their games. The boys played 4 games scoring 696 runs overall, with 115 runs against them. The girls' competition was very competitive with our team winning the carnival by just 10 runs. We had some very excited students on the bus ride home, all playing with fantastic sportsmanship and encouragement of each other and the opposing teams.

Both teams will progress to the state finals, played in Week 8. We wish them all the best as they compete.
