CELEBRATING OUR FAITH

8M Mass - Lent

This Friday 6 March, 8M students will be leading the Secondary Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9:15am.

8M will be focusing on the season of Lent and also that of giving alms, going out and supporting and serving others. Within the Mass, the 2020 Vinnies Conference executive and members will be commissioned into their role and receive their badges. These Holy Trinity students are dedicated to serving others and working for justice in our school and beyond.

Parents and friends are invited to attend the Mass on Friday, 6 March at 9:15am at Sacred Heart Church.

Ash Wednesday Liturgy

Last Wednesday the school community came together for a liturgy and marked the beginning of the season of Lent with ashes. Thank you to Fr Raj for leading the service, the music students for the accompaniment and singing and to the Year 9 and 10 drama class for creating 2 digital reflections on the theme of fire, renewal and beginning again.

Each pastoral care and class teacher distributed the blessed ashes to their classes, marking their students with a sign of the cross on their forehead.

Project Compassion -

First Week of Lent

Around 2.8 million children in the Philippines do not go to school.

We begin Project Compassion learning about the story of Shirley. Shirley was struggling to support her family and keep her children in school. She faced regular discrimination and disadvantage, limiting her family’s access to food, education, employment and healthcare. With Caritas Australia’s support, Shirley trained to become an indigenous health worker. She has learnt to supplement her income and is able to feed her family. The program has also empowered Shirley to send her children to school.

Let’s Go Further, Together!

Christian Living Days

Students in Years 7 and 10 will be involved in a Christian Living Day next week, 9 & 10 of March. Year 7 will attend the retreat day on Monday and Year 10 on Tuesday. Both days are at school.

The Christian Living Days are being facilitated by the Lasallian Youth Ministry team. Lasallian Youth Ministry offers opportunities for young people to discover the fullness of life through innovative experiences of faith, service and community. It aims at empowering young people to use their gifts in the service of others. These Christian Living Days are an important part of our school mission and towards the care of the spiritual welfare of each student.

Students attending these days are able to wear plain clothes and order a chicken and chips lunch for $6 on the morning of the retreat day.
