We hope that all the Mums and Caregivers in our community have a lovely day on Sunday.  The festivities continue on the Saturday 21st May with the St James Mothers Day lunch.

Nforma Reports - Semester 1 Reports

 

Classroom and Specialist teachers are currently in the middle of assessing student knowledge and understanding in preparation for report writing.   Student reports will be shared digitally before the end of term and prior to the Parent Teacher meetings via the Nforma Parent portal.  Further information will be sent out closer to the date on how to access your child’s academic report for Semester 1.

 

Chess Club - Now taking Enrolments

Last week we welcomed back Chess Club to St James.

 

Students in years 2-6 who are interested in learning how to play Chess, are invited to join.  Chess Club will be held every Wednesday during Term 2.  The sessions are held during lunch times on a Wednesday in the School Hall.

School Uniform

 

This term has been a time to transition into Winter Uniforms.  It has been optional for the students to begin wearing their winter uniform from the beginning of Term 2. All students are required to be wearing their full School Winter Uniform by Week 3 - Monday 9th May.   As we are a sunsmart school, students will need to wear their hats depending on the UV rating. Sunsmart Australia suggests wearing a hat when the UV rating is 3 and above.

 

School Review

 

As part of the improvement cycle, each Victorian Catholic, Government and Independent school undertakes a review every four years. The school completes a comprehensive self-evaluation against the MACS SIF (School Improvement Framework).  An independent analysis is also completed by an external reviewer on the school’s performance against the goals and targets listed in our SIP (School Improvement Plan). The review evaluates the school's strengths, areas for improvement and the impact of its improvement efforts. At the end of the review, a new four-year school SIP (School Improvement Plan) will be written.

 

Our School Review is fast approaching with our Compliance Day -  VRQA (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority) occurring on Tuesday 7th June.  The School Review process continues on Thursday 9th June and Tuesday 14th June with various focus groups to take place.

 

The purpose of the School Review is to celebrate our strengths and explore opportunities for improvement.

The students created these posters with a partner and shared them with the class, so that they could learn from one another. They combined what they already knew about persuasive texts with new ideas. As a staff, we are continually learning and adjusting our practice to best serve the needs of our students.\n\n\n\nThe Leadership team also engaged in a day of professional learning, with MACs leaders and a wide range of schools from the Southern region. This work was aimed at supporting and enhancing our plan for strategic school improvement, specifically in the area of Writing. The day was a great way to come together to design next steps for us as a school, always keeping in mind the intended impact on student outcomes.\n\n\n\n\n\nLEARNING ABOUT PERSUASIVE TEXTS IN YEAR 5\n\nThe students in Year 5 have been having fun making anchor charts about persuasive texts to help develop their understanding of the text’s purpose, structure, vocabulary and common phrases. The students created these posters with a partner and shared them with the class, so that they could learn from one another. They combined what they already knew about persuasive texts with new ideas. The school completes a comprehensive self-evaluation against the MACS SIF (School Improvement Framework).  An independent analysis is also completed by an external reviewer on the school’s performance against the goals and targets listed in our SIP (School Improvement Plan). The review evaluates the school's strengths, areas for improvement and the impact of its improvement efforts. Please find attached a few reminders about what is happening in Term 2.\n\n\n\nHappy Mother’s Day - Tantissimi Auguri per la Festa della Mamma\n\n\n\nWe hope that all the Mums and Caregivers in our community have a lovely day on Sunday.  The festivities continue on the Saturday 21st May with the St James Mothers Day lunch.  \n\n\n\n\n\nNforma Reports - Semester 1 Reports\n\n\n\nClassroom and Specialist teachers are currently in the middle of assessing student knowledge and understanding in preparation for report writing. Student reports will be shared digitally before the end of term and prior to the Parent Teacher meetings via the Nforma Parent portal.  Further information will be sent out closer to the date on how to access your child’s academic report for Semester 1.\n\n\n\nChess Club - Now taking Enrolments\n\n\n\n\n\nLast week we welcomed back Chess Club to St James.\n\n\n\nStudents in years 2-6 who are interested in learning how to play Chess, are invited to join.  Chess Club will be held every Wednesday during Term 2.  The sessions are held during lunch times on a Wednesday in the School Hall.\n\n\n\nFor further information on how to enrol, please see the attached flyer.\n\n\n\n\n\nSchool Uniform\n\n\n\nThis term has been a time to transition into Winter Uniforms.  It has been optional for the students to begin wearing their winter uniform from the beginning of Term 2. All students are required to be wearing their full School Winter Uniform by Week 3 - Monday 9th May. As we are a sunsmart school, students will need to wear their hats depending on the UV rating. Sunsmart Australia suggests wearing a hat when the UV rating is 3 and above.\n\n\n\nSchool Review\n\n\n\nAs part of the improvement cycle, each Victorian Catholic, Government and Independent school undertakes a review every four years. The school completes a comprehensive self-evaluation against the MACS SIF (School Improvement Framework).  An independent analysis is also completed by an external reviewer on the school’s performance against the goals and targets listed in our SIP (School Improvement Plan). The review evaluates the school's strengths, areas for improvement and the impact of its improvement efforts. At the end of the review, a new four-year school SIP (School Improvement Plan) will be written.\n\n\n\nOur School Review is fast approaching with our Compliance Day -  VRQA (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority) occurring on Tuesday 7th June.  The School Review process continues on Thursday 9th June and Tuesday 14th June with various focus groups to take place.\n\n\n\nThe purpose of the School Review is to celebrate our strengths and explore opportunities for improvement.\n\n\n\nSchool Closure Days for 2022\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFOUNDATION 2023 - ENROL NOW\n\n\n\nDear St James
