Welcome back!

We are so excited to be back for term two! We hope that all families had a safe and restful Easter break and we can’t wait for an even better term at OSHClub!

 

What’s coming up this term at OSHC?

 

Our theme this term is all about exploring our identity as we learn to successfully negotiate play through a range of creative experiences that foster curiosity and imagination. Watch this space to see some of the amazing things we will get up to this term in our clubs!

Spotlight on the Community: Mother’s Day Big Breakie

As part of our commitment to families within our community, Spotlight on the Community will be a platform for staff within the program can share relevant resources to support parents with parenting and wellbeing. 

 

This week we are sharing information about the upcoming Mother’s Day Big Breakie at Lyle Anderson Reserve, Highett. On Sunday the 8th of May, head to Lyle Anderson Reserve to enjoy an opportunity to spend time with family as you sample the delicious delights of the community cook up as well as have fun with the roving entertainers!

It also explored a range of strategies for including and engaging all students in mathematics learning.  \u003c/p>\u003cp> \u003c/p>\u003cp>\u003cstrong>\u003cu>NAPLAN \u003c/u>\u003c/strong>\u003c/p>\u003cp> \u003c/p>\u003cp>NAPLAN testing begins for our Year 3 and 5 students on Tuesday, 10th of May. \u003c/p>\u003cp> \u003c/p>\u003cp>NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. The students created these posters with a partner and shared them with the class, so that they could learn from one another. They combined what they already knew about persuasive texts with new ideas. As a staff, we are continually learning and adjusting our practice to best serve the needs of our students.\n\n\n\nThe Leadership team also engaged in a day of professional learning, with MACs leaders and a wide range of schools from the Southern region. This work was aimed at supporting and enhancing our plan for strategic school improvement, specifically in the area of Writing. The day was a great way to come together to design next steps for us as a school, always keeping in mind the intended impact on student outcomes.\n\n\n\n\n\nLEARNING ABOUT PERSUASIVE TEXTS IN YEAR 5\n\nThe students in Year 5 have been having fun making anchor charts about persuasive texts to help develop their understanding of the text’s purpose, structure, vocabulary and common phrases. The students created these posters with a partner and shared them with the class, so that they could learn from one another. They combined what they already knew about persuasive texts with new ideas. The new CSS will come into effect on Friday 1 July 2022.\u003c/p>\u003cp> \u003c/p>\u003cp>From 1 July 2022, 11 new Victorian Child Safe Standards which will replace Victoria’s seven current Child Safe Standards and principles in place since 2016.\u003c/p>\u003cp> \u003c/p>\u003cp>The CSS include new requirements, including the involvement of families and children in child safety efforts focus on the safety of Aboriginal children and young people management of the risk of child abuse in online environments, governance, systems and processes to keep students safe.\u003c/p>\u003cp> \u003c/p>\u003cp>The CSS is underpinned by Ministerial Order No. 1359 (MO 1359), which was released by the Victorian Government on 10 February 2022.
