A Very Special Visit

Late last term we were very fortunate to have been visited by the City of Greater Bendigo, Mayor Councillor, Andrea Metcalf. Mayor Metcalf toured our school in a student led tour (thank you Mason, Piper and Link for hosting this tour). Then Mayor Metcalf braved our student's questions and we were all very impressed with how she answered them with consideration, honesty and thoughtfulness and in terms we could all understand.

We all now know a great deal more about how our local council works, their role in our community and what being the mayor of a local city council involves (a lot of meetings and reading, we are reliably informed). Mayor Metcalf congratulated our students on winning the Bendigo Sports-Star of the Year award and posed for photos with our students and staff. Our students were also given a badge from the City of Greater Bendigo- which were quickly pinned to uniforms and worn with pride. With two of our students doing a stint of iso, we were able to beam their smiling faces into the room so they could meet the mayor and ask questions.

ANZAC Ceremony

On Tuesday afternoon we held our school ANZAC Ceremony underneath our flagpole at the front of the school. Our Year 6 Leaders ran the ceremony and spoke very well to those in attendance. Each of our students showed reverence during this ceremony and we are very proud of them.

Prep-2 News from Mrs Lightburn

We have begun our Writer's Notebooks and the students are very excited to be using these. Our first entry was some thoughts about ANZAC Day, which were accompanied by some fantastic illustrations to support the text.

In maths we are looking at subtraction and aim to be able to use our knowledge of addition to help us solve subtraction problems quickly and accurately.

Year 4-6 News from Miss Duffy

Our Term is off to a great start and began with some learning about the significance of ANZAC Day.  Our Numeracy focus for the first few weeks of term will be fractions, before we move onto decimals and percentages.  We can not wait to show you all a picture of our fractions and decimals number-line when it is complete.

Students will also begin using  Writer's Notebooks, this is a place where they can gather their thoughts about topics and themes that interest them, practise different writing techniques and give themselves space and time to become authors.

Outdoor Education

We are all amazed at home much our tiny seeds planted earlier in Term 1 are growing! Bring on the winter harvest!
