News From the Principal

I hope that all of our students and their families had a wonderful Easter. It is so lovely to see all of our students back ready to begin Term 2.

As you can see from the photos below, we had a great end of term send off, celebrating Easter and the end of Term 1.

A reminder to families that Mr Collins is on leave for the first half of this term and that for the majority of the time, I am in the classroom (with Miss Coffey taking the grade each Friday).

COVID Updated Information

As most of you would now be aware, the Victorian Government revised the guidance around protocols and rules to do with containing the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Masks - these are no longer required in education settings, but can still be worn if chosen to. (see close contact information below)

Close/Household Contacts - Students and Staff who are household contacts of a Covid-19 case are no longer required to quarantine. They may attend school provided they undertake (and return negative results) a Rapid Antigen Test 5 times in their 7-day period and wear a face mask when indoors. If you require additional Rapid Antigen Tests for this purpose please contact Lisa at the school. If the household contact returns a positive result during this period, then they must isolate for 7 days and not attend school.

Rapid Antigen Testing- this testing program will continue for the first four weeks of school. It is recommended that staff and students test twice per week. The next supply of tests will be sent home today.

Air Purifiers- these will continue to be used in each of our teaching spaces to assist with reducing contagious airborne particles (this should also help during the upcoming cold and flu season).

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact Lisa at the school .

NAPLAN

Our Year 5 students will have been completing some practice NAPLAN tests this week in preparation for the real deal in mid may. Dates and times of the actual NAPLAN assessments as well as some additional information will be communicated to the families of the students concerned. It is important to note that we expect all of our eligible students to participate in the NAPLAN assessments regardless of their ability; the test results and analysis will help us teach each child at their point of need as well as provide us with feedback on areas that as a school we are teaching well and if there are any areas we need to focus more teaching on. If families have any questions or concerns about NAPLAN 2022, please contact Lisa to discuss.

Student Lunches for Term 2 and 3

Beginning next Monday (May 2nd) we will have the pie warmer in operation each day. This means that students are able to bring along a lunch item that will be heated up and ready for lunch. Items should be wrapped in foil or in a foil container (no plastic or tins please) and clearly named. A reminder that the pie warmer does not cook items, it only heats them up. Some suggestions could be left over pasta or roast dinners,  pizza, pastry items (such a sausage rolls or party pies), toasted sandwiches. This option will be available each day for Terms 2 and 3 and whilst we don't expect (or even want) students to use this everyday, the option is there in place of a canteen or shop near by.

Mother's Day Stall

Next Thursday we will be holding a Mother's Day Stall at the school. Students will be able to purchase some small gifts for their mum. Students are able to bring up to $5 on the day so that they can make their selection. We wish all mums and carers a very Happy Mother's Day for Sunday May 8th.

Cross Country

What a wonderful day we all had at the Small School Cluster Cross Country in the last week of Term 1. ALL of our students represented themselves and our school extremely well and should be proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to Mason and Zack for their first place finishes in their age group events.

A further congratulations to Piper and Lucian (both competing for the first time)  for their third place finishes in their age groups. And to Skylar who also placed third in her age group.

A special thank you to Mr Collins for all of the hard work and time he put in to organising this event for not only our school but the five other small school cluster schools.

School Leaders

In the last week of term our three school leaders for 2022, were presented with their badges.

They were extremely excited and have been wearing their badges with pride ever since.
