Palm Sunday

The Last Sunday before Easter

Tomorrow after the usual Friday Assembly we will hold our Holy Week liturgy. As a community we will pray the journey from Palm Sunday, when Jesus made his triumphant entrance into Jerusalem, to Holy Saturday, when Jesus lay in the tomb. We will celebrate Easter and all the joy of the risen Jesus when we return to school with a liturgy on Caritas Day, Wednesday of the first week.

Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week. Jesus entered Jerusalem as triumphant king.

Let us pray:

They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?" And the crowds said, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."  (Matthew 21:6-11)

We pray for our Church,

that the Holy Spirit will inspire us to find ways to be welcoming to all people.

We pray for people in our world who are suffering in any way at this time:,

that they may find comfort knowing that God suffers with them.

We pray for all people who have died recently and especially for people we know and love,

that they will be raised to new life with Jesus.

God of love,

your love created the world,

your love sent Jesus to live with us on earth.

your love sent the Holy Spirit to breathe life through us.

Amen.
