Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 1 has certainly been a busy yet productive one. This is the first full term of on site learning in two years and the children are to be commended on their efforts. A special congratulations to our amazing Prep students who have completed their first term at primary school. It is amazing how much they have learnt in the short time they have been at school. I am sure, like the rest of the students (and teachers!), that they are ready for a well-deserved break.

Our Year 5/6 campers are enjoying their time at Camp Adanac in Yarra Junction. The weather has been perfect and the children are enjoying a wide range of activities. I am sure our senior students will be happy to share their experiences and photos with us all when we return next term.

Extension of the Rapid Antigen Testing program for schools

The Victorian Government has announced that it is extending the rapid antigen test (RAT) screening program for the first four weeks of Term 2.

The screening recommendations, to test at home twice a week, will remain the same next term for our students and staff.

Staff News

We are incredibly blessed here at Christ Our Holy Redeemer to have such a dedicated and professional team of teachers and support staff who work incredibly hard for the benefit of all our students. They work collaboratively in a supportive environment and display great resect for each other.

This week we acknowledge the achievements of two of our staff members as well as farewell one of our longstanding staff members;

Congratulations Jacqui Sharp

We congratulate Jacqui Sharp (5/6S) after successfully graduating from her Bachelor of Education course at Deakin University on Monday evening. We are so fortunate to have Jacqui here at COHR with us and we wish her much happiness in her teaching profession.

Congratulation Jill Palermo

“National Certification is a quality teaching initiative, recognising that exemplary teachers make an important contribution to the quality teaching and leadership in schools. Certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers (HALTs) contributes to the improvement in teacher quality by focusing on self-reflection, evidence of impact and providing external feedback to teachers on their professional practice.” (MACS, April 2021)

At COHR, we are pleased to announce that  Jill Palermo, Prep teacher, has received Lead Teacher Certification as part of a program conducted by MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools). To achieve Lead Teacher status, Jill needed to undertake a leadership project where she made a difference to the teaching of others, provide evidence, through analysing data, on the improvement shown in student learning and then have someone from the Melbourne Archdiocese watch her teach. Jill began this process in 2020 and recently she was part of a small group of educators across the Melbourne Archdiocese who received their accreditation at a ceremony at the Catholic Leadership Centre.

Farewell Franca Paduano

After 20 dedicated years of service to Christ Our Holy Redeemer School, Franca Paduano will be taking up a new position at St Andrews Clayton South as Learning Diversity Leader.

Franca is a highly regarded and valued member of COHR who has taken on many roles at our school including classroom teacher, Literacy Leader, Learning and Teaching Leader and Learning Support.

We are going to miss Franca incredibly. We know that we have been blessed with her hard work, professionalism, friendly disposition and her sincere commitment to our school and all the children she has worked with over the years. We congratulate Franca on her new appointment and wish her success and happiness for the future. Franca's last day will be Friday 20th May.

Hats

'On the first of May put you hats away'. Children will be required to wear their hats for the first week of Term 2. They can then be taken home to be washed, ready for Term 4.

School Fee Statements

Thank you to those families who have either paid their fees in full or are making regular payments through the year. An updated statement will be emailed in the second week of Term 2. If you are having any difficulties paying or would like us to start up a payment plan I invite you to make contact with me to discuss payment options.

A reminder that school concludes at 2:30pm tomorrow.
