 Sustainability Incursion

Yesterday, our Environmental Monitors participated in the Waste Wise Kids incursion facilitated by Earth Crusaders. The program focused on soft plastics and diverting plastic waste from landfill. The students learnt about the differences between soft and hard plastics and how to properly sort the different plastics and rubbish in the correct bins. They created beeswax wraps as a replacement for single use wraps. Beeswax wraps are a reusable replacement for plastic cling wrap and ideal for wrapping sandwiches, cheese and fresh fruit and vegetables and for covering bowls.

Remember to cut the ear loops off masks before putting them in the bin or else they can injure wildlife.
Which bin does this go into? If you said the recycling bin you'd be wrong. This container is covered in plastic film and needs to go into landfill.
