Year 4 Camp Reflections

My favourite activity on Year 4 camp was canoeing. My canoe was the fastest in my group because Joel and I were super fast and worked together. We played games like zombie apocalypse and world domination. Other activities like high ropes and the giant swing were terrifying. The least terrifying activity was team initiatives because we just had to do stuff as a team. Something that I did pretty well was archery, I hit a bullseye and my team won. (Charlie T)

The most enjoyable thing for me at Year 4 camp was the Amazing Race. When my group did the Amazing Race, we were called the Fantastic Finders. We had to look at a map and find and complete all 8 of the challenges. The other teams in our group were called 'We are number one' and 'The Dream Team.' The Fantastic Finders won!!!!!! (Georgia C)

On camp, the high ropes course was a bit scary. I only climbed 2 metres high! When I came down, I told myself to challenge myself to go even higher! So I did. When I came down I felt proud of myself. (Hugo D)

The most challenging thing at camp was the high ropes course because I was petrified of heights. But I tried and nailed it. (Indi D)

The Low Ropes Course was challenging. We did the Tarzan swing, the giant seesaw and the Mohawk walk, l liked all of them. On the Mohawk walk we had to walk on a thin rope of metal. We broke the record on the giant seesaw. On that activity we had to get everyone off the giant seesaw without touching the ground. The previous record was one touch and we did it with zero. (Nic K)

I think the Giant Swing was one of the best activities. I went first and got to the top. At the start I was very nervous because it looked so tall but when you're up there it seems twice as high. To do the activity, we put a harness on and had to hold onto one end of a rope so when we were being pulled up, we went higher and higher until we said stop and let go of the rope. On your first swing your tummy drops so much but on your second it doesn’t. At the end my hands were bleeding from holding onto the rope. Next Joel and Noah went to the top and Sam had a good attempt at it too. I think the Giant Swing is one of the most popular and fun of all the activities at camp. (Oliver R)

I showed a growth mindset by overcoming my fear of heights on the High Ropes course. I was very fearful because l was going on the catwalk and it didn’t seem that safe by the looks of it. Then when l was doing it l thought l was only going to go to the middle, but l ended up going the whole way and back because l knew l would regret it if l didn’t. It ended up being super delightful and fun, probably my second favourite activity. (Olivia V)

While I was participating in archery, I thought that everyone did an amazing job. I loved it too. I was so so excited because I love Archery. It was so much fun. The giant swing and the high ropes were easily the scariest activities of the camp! I was completely terrified because they were both extremely high which doesn’t help my fear of heights. Even though I was petrified I still gave it a good swing and felt amazing and proud of myself. (Alex S)

Last week was fun because I had my first school camp. I got to do lots of activities with my friends. One of my favourites was canoeing in the water. I did it with Alex and I had lots of fun. One of the activities we did was called Zombie Apocalypse which is a game where you hit the front of someone elses canoe with your oar. Another fun activity was called World Domination which was also really fun. (Jude R)

I couldn't believe how good the food was on camp. We had three course meals, a soup, main and some dessert. I felt happy because although the activities were scary, they were still very fun. At camp I learnt how to step out of my comfort zone. Next time I will go higher on the high ropes and giant swing. Something I learnt about myself was that I am very brave. I showed a growth mindset by trying every activity and stepping out of my comfort zone. (James L)

I went on the low ropes where there were three activities. I had to balance on a giant seesaw with my activity group where we balanced for 51 seconds which was the best time. Next, we did the Tarzan swing which we had to swing across a platform to another platform. The last one on the low ropes course was the rope walk where we had to get all our activity groups and we made it all the way to the end. It was very hard. (Zac K)

The first activity we did was low ropes. It was very, very, very, very, very, very, fun.  First we did this seesaw challenge. We had to balance the seesaw for 10 seconds with everyone on it. We did it in flying colours balancing it for 36 seconds I think….. After that we went on the Tarzan swing. It was this rope with a hole to put my foot in. Carefully I put my foot in the hole and went to the other platform. It was so fun! Then we did a Tarzan yell on the swing which was funny because some people barely yelled. After that we did the Mohawk walk. The name was so weird but then I realised why it was called that. It was so thin like the top of a Mohawk. It was a tightrope that we had to walk like a crab on it. I started to walk on the Mohawk walk and suddenly I fell. Then we made a plan to hold hands and then touch the other side. Everybody made it across luckily. I learnt from this activity that you have to communicate with your group to do some things. (Samantha H)

Overall everything on camp was fun including the team initiatives. The activities the teachers chose were amazing and the night’s sleep was AMAZING! If I had the chance to go there again I would definitely go. I would give the camp a 5 star rating for everything. (Maya D)

On May 16 2022, I went to an amazing camp with my friends and my class. The camp was in Grantville. It sort of looked like a big farm with lots of huts and fun activities plus a big parking zone. And it went for three days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I was bursting with excitement when I jumped onto the bus and looked out the window. I think the bus ride took one hour and forty five minutes. (Lilly B)

I felt surprised by camp this year because it was a lot scarier than I thought. Even though it was frightening, I gave everything a go and showed resilience and determination. I really enjoyed it! (Otis B)

Year 2 Experience
